Karan114 Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Yusuf pathan has no one to blame but himself' date='one decent 50 in any match he played would have cemented his position [b']but he failed to live up to the expectations we had for him after the SA ODIs. Yep...I thought those runs in SA would be the turning point in his career and that he would really thrive on Indian pitches, but apart from a quick cameo to settle the nerves against Ireland he has been a total flop

Raina has issues against short balls. But he is able to negotiate any other type of deliveries.
Karan114 Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Lack of sound technique is the problem. Raina has issues against short balls. But he is able to negotiate any other type of deliveries. True. Its still amazing how he came into that situation against Aus (easily the most pressure he has faced in his career, a knockout game in a World Cup) on the back of virtually no game time over the past two months and so calmly supported Yuvi to win the game.

Remember he (71 in 47 balls) and Kohli (century) won a match against Australia recently. There is no substitute for experience.

There is no substitute for experience. Experience no doubt helps (and I would add Raina's innings against Pakistan in the Asia Cup as the most important one before that in a high pressure situation), but it still takes something special to produce it when under so much pressure and lacking recent time in the middle.
rajmarie Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Ind should open the bowling with Ashwin & Zaheer as in QF. Pak can play spinners better...but the pressure of SF is different then a normal ODI. Hoping Pak openers mess up & over attack
rajmarie Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Pakistani Pm to also come and watch the match... That means probably now the military will also provide security for this match. The fans who are going to stadium better not take anything with them except their ticket & some cash...because IMO..they will not even allow coins
Raghav_12 Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 ....this is 1 game you can actually become rich. Bookie can offer min 50 crores to throw this and imagine if Asif/Aamir/Butt were still playing If that trio knew that this kinda opportunity will arise so soon in future, they would have behaved like all saints and would not waited for until this moment :winky: (instead of getting banned for few grands)
rajmarie Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 BTW....lets be prepared to see the shoddiest fielding display from these 2 teams in an ODI. No advantage there for neither teams. Finally after a long time...the game will be decided between battle of bat & ball. Old school cricket

akshayxyz Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 :omg: did u come up with this on ur own? Arey yaar, I am tired of the meaningless historical stats and bowling powerhouse wattage theories.
akshayxyz Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Pak will bowl close to 25 overs of spin bowling and there is no bigger destroyer of the slow phuddu type that Pak has like Yusuf Pathan. I have rarely ever seen him get out without dismantling spinners he faces. IMO he must play ...but how ? Raina is definitely nerves of steel and a great finisher. If we have to go by horses for courses, do you think Dhoni must " rest" Kohili and play Pathan instead. Kohli has arguably done no wrong....just that the kind of attack Pak has and what Yusuf Pathan has been doing to such attacks...I would be tempted to play Yusuf Pathan for Kohli. Even if Yousuf Pathan plays only 5 overs, he can totally swing the match in India's favour even in 5 overs. Drop Munna, keep both Raina and Pathan. :two_thumbs_up:

The guy times ball beautifully and can smack big hits when required.
Roshanrocks Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 This match is being milked by the media from India's side to incredible proprtions... i for the team's sake hope they have no contact with internet and television newspapers too I dont know whats happeneing in Pakistan media though... any comments on this?
asterix Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 India needs to "out bat" and "out field" Pakistan.. India should go with 8 batsmen and 3 bowlers.. Pathan in place of Munna.. That also gives the best fielding combination..
