Its more to do with in what way they've affected others' lives directly or indirectly in a positive way and also what they've contributed to the nation.

AB scores higher than SRT, or so I feel. But thats again debatable and subjective. I dont agree with you here. AB is currently India's most bankable character artist but not India's most successful or most capable actor. There are far more accomplished actors than him in India - Mamooty, Kamal Haasan among the few that come to mind. Also, AB's presence is not Pan India. If you go down south or far east away from the hindi speaking belt, Amitabh Bacchan's name would evoke no response among most people and I can vouch that many wont recognize him either, or for that matter any bollywood artist. However, India has not produced a better or most successful cricketer than SRT. Statistically, or from an emotional response point of view, SRT outscores every other cricketer India has produced and most likely will produce in the years to come. 2) International appeal: The India ka naam roshan karega effect. SRT's appeal is only limited to those places where cricket is played. AB on the other hand is a household name almost everywhere. Go to Iran and they are bound to ask you a question or two about AB. Ditto Eastern Europe and ex Soviet countries. AB ( and Raj Kapoor before him) are synonymous with India in some of these places. You just can't deny that effect. And lets face it, if you were to go to the USA tomorrow and make a few gora ( or even kala) friends, would you show them Deewar or SRT's 200 against Australia? Can you break ice having SRT as the topic of conversation? If someone came up to me and started talking SRT centuries I'd :whack: him/her :P Ultimately International appeal depends on the kind of audience you are interacting with. Most goras have no idea about either SRT or AB. The ones who have an interest in Indian movies (which are a minority) might have heard of AB or just have heard the Jai Ho song at the oscars, the ones in the cricket playing countries (SA, Australia, NZ, UK etc) are far more likely to know about SRT than AB. Again ice breakers to conversations depends on the person I am having a conversation with. If I go ahead and talk about Deewar to a person who has absolutely no idea about Bollywood, I would evoke blank stares. Similarly I can just as easily start a conversation with a sports enthusiast about cricket. 3) Legacy: I explained this part in my response to Vijay Sharma. Who would have a stronger impression: culturally, socially, in patterns of behaviour or talking or dressing in the future on Indians? Here too I lean towards AB. Comparing on impact of behavior patterns, talking, dressing is a non starter because as mentioned before, a sportsman cannot be judged on the same parameters as a actor. As far as legacy is concerned, IMO, SRT would have a much more long lasting legacy than AB, nations dont forget sportsmen that easily. We are still brought up on exploits of Milkha Singh, Dhyan Chand, PT Usha, Sunny etc. Actors are still remembered as great performers but somewhere down the line they just dont have the same appeal as a sportsman who has made his country proud on several occasions. 4) Connect with Indians: As in ability of a common person to identify himself/herself with the celeb. AB outscores SRT here too. I am curious here - Do you base this on something other than interaction with people on KBC? If not, then AB's acting abilities have a lot to do with it. Add to that scripted shows, perfectly timed background music to accentuate effects, editing out of any scenes which werent that impressive. As said before.

I m pretty disappointed in him personally and not for his cricketing achievements. He has been a great servant for us.

All the Sports stars , Movie stars , Politicians comes only at the end.... whatever these people done for country they will rewarded handsomely...no sacrifice needed at all.. i dont blame or envy their abilty to earn ,but wahtever they give to country they get back more or equal to that.. this is just my opinion ...i was wrong many times :winky: also words are free and easy to write
