WC2011INDIA Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Oh god no!! I don't want Nehra or YKP playing tomorrow. Please please Dhoni don't make this mistake. Bringing Nehra in is like giving the game away to Pakistan. I hate Nehra's face and his bowling. YKP has not been good in this tournament. No tinkering with your 11 please......If you want another seamer, get Sreesanth in.
rajmarie Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Yes....cricinfo is reporting that both Nehra & Pathan are expected in the team tomorrow. Dont care for Nehra replacement...but please dont drop Ashwin...he had bowled in powerplays...& had done a great job. Ashwin & Bhajji should be 2 1st choice spinners plus all the partimers & Zak. I forget..Nehra will be there also...to finish parttimers quota
Zap_Brannigan Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Without Pathan there is not 6th bowler option unless Sehwag or Sachin bowls. How i wish sachin bowls these days. He turned a couple of balls miles in the last game.

Zelig Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Only a mad person will drop Ashwin after his fine perfs in the two matches so far. MSD, if you're so obsessed with Sree, drop Munni for him. Ashwin stays!:obeyme:
CG Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 So it's a team game when other players are involved. But when it's Sree: :haha: See, I really don't care now whether Sree, Munaf, or Nehra play because our 2nd seamer options are all equally bad. Munaf has stopped being effective after a very good start, Nehra is out of form and Sree is an idiot. Ideally we would have been playing Praveen since the guy would have done well on the Mohali pitch but no matter. The most important bowler for India in this match is going to be Harbhajan. Zaheer, Yuvraj, Ashwin we KNOW will bowl well in their roles but our 2nd seamer is going to suck. So that means if Bhajji keeps bowling like he has been (going wicket less) then it would really favor Pakistan. Sreesanth should play as he is our 2nd best fast bowler,Munaf and nehra are useless .Thank god praveen kumar is not in the team his average in india is 60 and economy 7.

CG Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 thats pathetic,Sree should be considered, n I say just considered, only if we r playing 3 seamers,Nehra should walk in for Munaf or both stay if we play 3 seamers,no need for this idiotic chimp hes the most expensive bowler in the world ffs,n we r looking him to play in S/F stop trolling,If you knew or played cricket you could not back nehra.:finger:
rajmarie Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 India should pick 4 bowlers.....& let the set of part timers to the 5th over job.
Lord Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 stop trolling' date='If you knew or played cricket you could not back nehra.:finger:[/quote'] n why is that?we cant castigate him for one over, hes been doing well for last 2 yrs in India,is experienced, can swing the new ball n be fairly accurate.n we know Pak struggle against swing Sree is talent no doubt, but has no idea how to use it,he'll defintely get hammered, loose his cool, try all sorts of things n get hammered some more

NareshK Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Dropping Ashwin will be epic :fail: First thing, irrespective of pitch conditions hitting spinners up front will be risky. When Paki batsmen attack Ashwin, we have a good chance of getting wickets which is very important in a pressure game. I dont think Nehra or Munaf on their own have the capacity to get batsmen out. In fact, they have been leaking runs. Ashwin is also a much better bowler in powerplays as was proved the other day. He gave 3 runs and got Ponting out, who was well set in the penultimate over if i remember correctly. He also got Watson out at the start just when he was set and ready to play a big innings. Both Nehra and Munaf have been poor at bowling in the Power plays and also in the death. Also, Ashwin fielded superbly the other day and brought in a lot of energy and passion to our fielding which in turn lifted the spirit of the whole team. I hate watching Nehra or Munaf on the field and the way they amble towards the ball when they are fielding. It brings the whole team down. So there's nothing which suggests Ashwin should be dropped. If he does get dropped, then it will be a big blow for India.

Ashwin is yet to play a subcontinent team,it'll be different kettle of fish when he sees batsmen charging down the pitch n hitting over long on for six.hes been allowed to bowl so far,he wont be against Pak. England tried this tactic against SL the other day.as good as Swann is he got spanked by Tharanga n Dilshan n looked helpless.OTOH,SL got away bowling a part timer like Dilshan with the new ball.this suggests that it works only against the non Asian teams.hope Dhoni takes the hint

vvvslaxman Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Ashwin, Yuvraj, Zaheer are the 3 main wicket takers. There is no way he is going to drop him. When Pakistan backs Afretard and Ajmal against Indians who are far superior batsmen than Pakistanis there is nothing wrong backing Ashwin against Pakistan.
Lord Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Dhoni takes the hint abt what??? not giving Ashwin the new ball

What makes you think Ashwin wont bowl well in tomorrow's match ? Are Paki batsmen better than Watson, Clarke and Hussey ? You cant drop a bowler based on expecting the worse out of him. He bowled well the other day, took wickets, bowled in power plays and fielded well. You cant expect anything else from him. At least I feel he will be better than Nehra or Munaf.

vvvslaxman Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 not giving Ashwin the new ball He will bowl atleast one over. I am pretty sure Pakistani's will start slowly in an important match like this. That is their general tactics.
rajmarie Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 not giving Ashwin the new ball Ashwin have bowled with new ball inside PP in IPL...so that experience will come in handy. Yes...SF against Pak is different game...but IMO..the strategy that has worked should be presisted with.
