Most likely, my optionals will be Public Administration and Anthropology or Sociology. Can someone recommend some good coaching institutes in Delhi that are not too expensive. In addition, what websites have free study materials on the subjects I mentioned above? I would highly appreciate any help.

WC, I would suggest you go to the areas in Delhi where IAS aspirants live and talk to them before deciding which coaching institutes you want to join. You may have to join separate classes for each of the subjects. Bhawani Singh's classes, Khan Study Group etc are good for PA whereas for Anthropology Chankaya IAS Academey, Rau's IAS and Vajirao are quited good. The last 3 named are also good with the prepartion for GS. Not sure about the fees structure though. As for free study material, not much may be available on the net but if you go to the hubs of IAS aspirants (North Campus, any of the Sarais etc), you can easily buy course material of good coaching institutes (postal notes) which is relatively cheaper. I would suggest staying near the North Campus in King's Way Camp or Mukherjee Nagar or in Old Rajinder Nagar (in Karol Bagh) rather than Jiasarai, Bersarai and Katwariasarai. But again choice has to be yours, so spend a good 5-6 days talking to various people, ask for demo classes at the coaching institures before deciding which classes to join and ultimately that should drive the decision of the area you chose to stay in. All the best for your preparation. Thanks a lot for all the information and wishes. I am excited and nervous! Chanakya IAS Academy, Rau's IAS and Vajirao don't deal with Anthropology. Instead, they teach Sociology. As for staying closer to the areas you mentioned, my parents own a house in Dwarka so most likely I will be staying there. It's been a year since I have opened any book, but I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.

BTW...WC2011INDIA....I could have given you some pointers if you were going down south..I have no clue abt the exam itself though....Good luck brah..Its a big decision to go back (presuming you were educated abroad) to try and get into the IAS....Its time people like you got into our civil services.

However, I have faith that if I work hard, believe in myself and form a dedicated study group, I can make it.

theguyinallblue Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 i have taken coaching from Mukul pathak sir for Psychology in Vajiram at Karol Bagh.. and for GS at SRIRAM's... for public administration go to "Synergy" M.K Mohanty sir... he is the best for PA.. i can't say about your other optional.... and since you will be staying in Dwarka..( i too put up in dwarka ).....Karol Bagh centre will be suitable for you
