littlemaster1982 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I actually wasnt that nervous for this match compared to our quarter finals against the Aussies. I always knew that it would be extremely hard to beat Aussies in a knock out game and we needed to be at our very best to win that game and thats exactly how that game panned out. And after that win i was pretty sure on our victory for this game. Although SRT struggling on this pitch gave me a lot of anxious moments, once we reached 260 i knew the game was in our bag. So yea i feel happy and relieved that we have reached the finals which was expected from this team right from the very start. :dito: You stole my words.
Pak_Forever Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 The moment India won the toss, I lost half of my confidence....but then the way Sachin was batting I felt like he's not in his usual touch so maybe this game is going Pakistan's way, but somehow after horrendous fielding and when India reached 250 I lost my remaining hope. Pakistan and under pressure batting just don't go well together. But well it was a nice journey for Pakistan. Hurts a little losing to arch-rivals but well they made it to semis and played good cricket for most of the tournament (apart Misbah ) India's streak remains.....we will meet again after 4 year :two_thumbs_up:
jf1gp_1 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 like few others i knew we wont lose ; after we set 260 i honestly didnt expect Pak to win; we will finally win world cup after 28 yrs sorry SL there is no way you are winning this one
NareshK Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I was pretty confident India will win this match. The only time I felt nervous was when Dhoni got out because he was the last recognized batsman and Bhajji has not been batting well. Umar Gul and Riaz could have bowled yorkers and got the tailenders out cheaply and we wouldnt have batted 50 overs. But great job by Raina who held the innings together and got the score to 260. About the victory, I think its as big as it gets. Beating Pakistan in a knock out encounter always feels great just because of the rivalry and after all the hype and hysteria surrounding this match. Its even better because we go to the final of the World Cup in India.:two_thumbs_up: On a side note, can you imagine losing yesterday to Pakistan in India and getting crashed out of the World Cup and Pakistan then going on to having a chance to win the World Cup in Mumbai ? I would have shut myself inside for a week. :nervous:
pinkfreud Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I'm feeling good, but I'm also feeling a bit cynical at the same time. Let's face it, our batting gave all of us the heebie-jeebies, and we'll be facing a mammoth team in the finals. That to me will be our final frontier. But yesterday's win has nevertheless made me smile like a Cheshire Cat simply because we proved that actions > words. I will be over the moon if we win the World Cup. That's when I will get willingly sozzled and dance like a lunatic without a care in the world.
ZodiaC Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Was pretty damn sure we would win this. Was a lil tensed during the mid over collapse but when we reached 260, was damn sure this was gonna be one sided. Waiting for the finals now!
Desi Cartman Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I was more nervous before the quarter final but once Pak got off to a decent start I was nervous again. Saw the whole game and the presentation, stayed up till 5 am. Came to work after just 2 hrs sleep but I'm feeling so relived. I am kind of sure that Lanka will get Pwned. Although my wife believes that India will be tired after 2 epic games ( vs Aus and then Pak).
pinkfreud Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Although my wife believes that India will be tired after 2 epic games ( vs Aus and then Pak). I actually think winning against two good sides will pep us up even more. Compare that to Lanka, who have had a relatively smooth ride to the finals- NZ and England are the teams they have beaten in the KOs to get this far :two_thumbs_up: In such a situation I think we'd have an edge when it comes to handling pressure cooker situations
sangrock Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 i was really stressed out for last 2 days - I think i would have been shattered to the core and lost it had india lost today. I was really nervous, missed the toss but watched the game after that. No work today (duh). Pumped for tomorrow and rest of the week (even the weekend!). Soo much relief!
Holysmoke Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Tbh I had a feeling pak would win. I am going ape right now.:yay:
Ranjha Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I couldnt imagine losing to Pakistan...was very tensed but knew In the back of my head that we will be lifting the cup this yr or never... Go India
ravishingravi Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 The thought of Pakistan lifting the cup in Mumbai was extremely disturbing for various reasons. So, yeah, relieved that it won't happen now.
DomainK Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Even I was sort of confident of winning this one. I was a little nervous when the Pakistan was cursing easily in the chase though.
Ranjha Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Once dhoni got out, I was worried but credit to raina for taking us to 260...that was crucial in the end.
Ranjha Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I knew anything above 250 will not be easy to chase but if we got out to 230 or so...would have been game over.
zaheer Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Extremely Proud and Happy!! Emotional for Sachin to be playing a WC Final in Mumbai!! I was damn nervous for the QF against Australia... wasnt really that nervous till the start of this match. Only when the first ball was bowled got nervy again!!
Mr_Rat Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Seeing Sach bat was the most heart attack inducing time for me yesterday.
youngindia Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 wHERE I COME FROM- i feel that india has to be one of the premier sporting powers with its population. hence i don't get caught in ind-pak nonsense. was pretty calm and composed for the most as i was basically mocking the hype. i didn't like that our batsmen were not prepared for ajmal and riaz today but when raina said "this was good enough on this wicket" , i was not as annoyed. but my confidence in our bowling was mixed especially with nehra and munaf. they didn't cause me too much annoyance(as usually the case) until the end when zaheer bowled a braindead over. Even after the win, was calmly enjoying the fact of a third WC final.infact thinking for the future when we have a more reliable bowling attack. unlike 1996,that team didn't deserve to be in a WC final and 2003, where we would have been very lucky to win against the invincible aussies, this team hasa realistic and very good chance. The thought of Pakistan lifting the cup in Mumbai was extremely disturbing for various reasons. So' date=' yeah, relieved that it won't happen now.[/quote'] "what if scenarios" does not pay. it works poorly for one's stress.
akshayxyz Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I finished about 3/4 bottle of whisky (when we started bowling) and was still wide awake 3:30 am in the morning. And now back again surfing through all the 'bold' threads.
akshayxyz Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 tics' date=' it doesnt even compare to the 1996 QF .... we were the total underdogs in that game ... just like Pakis were today.[/quote'] Agreed, when Sohail and Anwar were belting indian bowlers, I was so stressed that - when I went to P and a wicket fell, I went for a long walk ( 4-5km) and didnt return to our hostel tv room until I had heard enough cheers ( I was counting the wicket falls while I was walking). I have never done that anything close to that for a match. 2003 indo-pak and then most of the matches I was all alone in a remote city in Korea listening online commentary. Could not find any live streaming that time, and no cricket forums etc to follow.
