Gambhir - top scorer in both T20 and ODI World Cup finals

Made 75 in the World Twenty20 final to beat Pakistan in 2007 and now 97 against the Lankans in the World Cup final (came in at 0/1 with India reeling from the last five overs of their innings) What a champion, lifts his game when the pressure is at its absolute highest

Good observation, Karan. Gambhir has stepped up for the team when it mattered the most. All this from a guy who was written off by many as just a Ranji trophy specialist. Gambhir shares a special bond with Gary Kirsten. He mentions the impact Gary has had on his mindset almost in every interview. Gary sees him as someone who is very similar to what he was during his playing days.

For me, he was the MAN OF THE MATCH. Don't take me wrong, but we were in deep deep trouble chasing 275 in a world cup final with 2 greats on top already gone for not much, he played that crucial p'ship with Virat Kohli, and than again with Dhoni. When Kohli got out, we still needed lot of work, but the stage had been set, and it was set by Gambhir.. and for that He deserved this man of the match..

agree GG was my man of the match because he got his runs in more difficult circumstances and set up the chase perfectly. he was basically opening the innings today. good practice for future games :--D
