maaki Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I cant believe Sree's name gets mentioned on a PK thread.. Sree is done and over for the next 2 years atleast until he comes back with a added learning on controlling line, length , aggression and head
Stuge Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Dont worry this series will be easy' date=' India at home is about the same level as Aus away and that was easy like a sunday morning for us.[/quote'] lol..crazy .. you speak like afridi ...:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
b555 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 he is gonna go obviously! atleast i hope he does, he soooo much deserves to play in tests also, just gives u that extra dded option of a bowler with swing in both ways
Tendya Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 My Choice : Zak, Sree, Munaf , Praveen Kumar Zak and Sree should take the first 2 spots, while among the other 2 , one of them should play depending on their practice match performances
Raghav_12 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I believe he should be tried out in tests now, definitely.
Cricketics Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 ^^ Just look at the ideas here, i've listed them below. Discarding him for Eng tour or putting him in the same fray as RP/Pathan ? Did some here watch the games in SA ? I'm a big Rp Singh Fan, but do you seriously think he will get a go in England? He hasn't been even in selectors contenders list for a while. I remember the 07 tour. Actually no sane Indian cricket fan will forget our bowling heorics over there.
The Realist Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 RP Singh needs to lose the belly first. Has done next to nothing on the domestic circuit to warrant a call up. Need to move on and find younger, fitter and hungrier players.
saket123 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Definite thumbs up for Praveen Kumar. He is better than Sreesanth for sure.
rkt.india Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Should have gone to South Africa as well. Wonder why they chose to go with two rookies instead of PK. He's been unfairly labelled as a new ball bowler without giving him any chances in test matches. Hopefully we do not the same old mistakes again. he is not unfairly labelled a new ball bowler because it is a proven fact in domestic cricket. He has proved it many a times in FC matches after 10-15 overs. In England too, ball does not swing always. We cannot have a bowler who will be useful for only first 15-20 overs or whenever the ball starts swing and otherwise he will just be a passenger on the field.

Has also got 13 5-fers in 38 matches. Maybe there is more to him than about just the new ball. And for a moment even if we consider him to be just a new ball bowler, if he can consistently give us a couple of break throughs in his initial spell, I would say he has done his job. Another factor that works in his favour is his ability to run in and bowl long spells consistently. Definitely deserves a chance ahead of others.

UP vs Delhi..in Delhi innings he took 3-4 early wickets when the ball was new in first 5 overs and after the likes of Rajat Bhatiya played him easily and he couldn't take any till the second new ball came and that was a good track for pacers and then when new ball came he again started swinging the ball and took 8 wickets but it was of no use because Delhi already had a good score on the board because he was ineffective for about 45-50 overs in the innings. I do not think anyone can give you 1-2 initial breakthroughs in every game. He wont get conditions in his favor at all times. There is no use of bowling long spells when a bowler is completely ineffective in those long spells and also he cannot reverse the ball.

PK bowled his first spell of around 10-11 overs, took 4 wickets for about 30 runs ( not in first 5 overs as you say), nearly got Bhatia and Chopra twice or thrice as catches were spilled. Bhatia in fact was all at sea against him but once he was off the attack, he hit other bowlers. As for the spell being of no use, LOL, that spell won UP the Ranji trophy!! 32-8-68-8, if that according to you is a useless spell, then sorry thats an one eyed view.
panesarv Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I wud go with Munaf for tests Hopefully, he can stay alive for 5 days
Sooda Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Its not like theres a huge pool of pace talent to choose from. Prasad in an interview a few months ago said he should tour Eng too, hopefully the conditions will help him there and he is an accurate bowler so can keep the pressure on when the conditions are not quite going his way Sree and Zak will go, I think Munaf and PK should be the other two. Mithun was quite unfairly treated after SL and should have gone to SAfrica, however his last season was not quite as good as the year before so it is unlikely. Hopefully it will not be Unadkat and/or Yadav again...

I was there at Trent Bridge that day when Zaheer took 5-fer and RP got Pieterson with an absolute jaffa. Bowled so well that day.
diegovegaz Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 where does this question come from? if he's fully fit, he's a certainity in the squad, home or away

My point was those 15-20 overs after his 10 overs...that was an FC match. But at the top level, these kind of bowlers become problem when ball becomes old. Asif bowls at same speed but Asif is taller and gets bounce and does more tricks with his wrist who is more of a seam bowler rather than a swing bowler and even Asif looks ordinary with the old ball.
rkt.india Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 To me playing him in a test match, whatever the conditions are, is a bit of a gamble. You expect him to take wickets with the new ball, but if it does not happen and oppisition plays him well, than he could be pretty much like what Jaydev Unadkat was in his first test against SA.
