J P K Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Their recent good performances in the ongoing IPL IV have got Mumbai Indians’ Ambati Rayudu and Kings XI Punjab’s Paul Valthaty on the selectorial radar. The two batsmen are very much in the national selectors’ vision for the forthcoming tour of the West Indies. While Rayudu is in the running for the 15-member one-day squad, Valthaty could get the nod for the one-off Twenty20 game. Although there is still some uncertainty whether the senior Indian cricketers will make themselves available for the five-match ODI series, the stylish Rayudu is likely to be picked in place of regular opener Virender Sehwag. Sehwag has been weighed down by a shoulder injury for some time now and he is scheduled to go under the knife in England once he is done with the IPL. The operation will rule him out for at least eight weeks and there are even doubts if the dasher will recover for the tour of England in July. “We have a set ODI squad and there is very little scope for any alteration. But if Sehwag does get operated during that time, Rayudu could come in his place. Paul Valthaty has done well recently and he is also in the frame for the one T20 game,†a selector revealed. Valthaty, with 261 runs under his belt, is currently the second highest run-getter of the IPL IV after Sachin Tendulkar (269). Rayudu was in exceptional form during the last domestic season where he amassed 873 runs and he has continued in a similar vein in the current edition of the IPL where he has totalled 201 in six games. “He has shown a lot of maturity while batting under pressure. That should go in his favour,†the selector said. Yuvi back for Tests The selectors have made up their minds on bringing back Yuvraj Singh in the Test squad. “There wasn’t any doubt about his class. The issue was with his form and attitude and in both aspects he seems pretty well placed now. And for a player like Yuvraj, he doesn’t have to take anyone’s place, you can say he will win back his place in the Test side,†the selector said. http://www.mumbaimirror.com/article/59/2011042720110427023308970eb8deb1f/Rayudu-Valthaty-on-selectors%E2%80%99-radar-for-West-Indies-series.html

asterix Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 UV is Test matches.. No please.. He's not physically fit to play test matches..
Ramzz Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Why the hell are IPL performances being taken seriously for tests? Paul Valthty?...no way is this guy test material
vvvslaxman Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Why do we even have a tournament called Ranji trophy They better cancel it.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Fantastic!!! Till 2 weeks ago nobody in India (including the selectors) had heard the name of Valthaty and now he may go to West Indies because he has performed well in the Bollywood Tamasha :adore: :adore: Rayadu is one guy who deserves a chance and also I think its the right time to bring Yuvi back inTests.
WC2011INDIA Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Why are they not considering Badrinath? He deserves to be on selectors' radar for WI tour too.
Sid Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 What aboout Pujara,Rahane and Badrinath, will they get a look in for ODI squad .
Sid Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 And Yuvi for tests, this is the last thing we need
Cricket Tragic Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Valthathy :headshake: Yuvi in tests
anotherhawkeye Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Valthaty is not playing well off late. I wouldn't give him a spot on the national team unless he plays well in the Ranji trophy. Many more deserve a spot more...How about Badrinath and Rohit Sharma ? They deserve it more than PV.
SachDan Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I would like to see Raydu and Venugopal Rao in the T20 squad.
fineleg Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Yuvi is yuvraj in limited overs, but useless in Tests
cowboysfan Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I would rather see ftb Vijay in odis than rayadu or valthaty,if srikant picks these guys based on ipl performances then he needs to fired immediately.
yoda Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 They need to get into the national team so they can be eligible for auction $$$$ next time around, similar to the dhoni-look-alike.
