ganeshran Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 What happened to the catching standards in the IPL. Almost every other match has 2-3 crucial drops... Makes me sad to see many of the domestic players doing it, these are the basics of cricket and we would expect them to get it right most of the time.
rkt.india Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 you are too critical...in world almost every match had catches dropped and miss fielding by some one or the other team...even England, SL, SA dropped catches...its part and parcel of the game...T20 is fast and catches are dropped double fast too:--D
ganeshran Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 ^^ :haha: Haha Pakistan's fielding standards are so low, we shouldn't really be aiming towards them. We should try to emulate saffers and Kiwis in fielding. They routinely save 15-20 runs in an ODI match.
fineleg Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 ganeshran is right. Our domestic players dropped simple catches too. That's apalling. Something needs to be done about domestic players' fielding levels.
ganeshran Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Kiwis are best..even they drop catches...then SA.. Very rarely do Kiwis and Saffers drop regulation opportunities...Difficult chances maybe.. but some of our youngsters are dropping simple opportunities which should be one of the first things taught by a coach
vvvslaxman Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 SL dropped Morgan 4 times before he got to 50. In T20.. everything happens real fast. You see Gayle slamming all over the park, suddenly he skies one you get nervous and spill it.
Ram Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Works perfectly for me.. CSK's Indian contigent is by far the BEST fielding unit in IPL. Murali Vijay takes catches while tying his shoe laces. Anirudh Srikkanth is turning out to be SUCH A good catcher, the Chennai Municipal corporation is seriously contemplating about hiring him to catch all the mosquitoes in the city. Badri is safe as houses, in fact, as safe as the 3 storyed mansion where Bin Laden was staying for 6 years, getting Chinese massages, manicure and pedicure every day. Jakati seems to have suddenly developed super-human skills that enable him to catch balls faster than the speed of light. And of course, we all know about Raina. I would absolutely love for the other teams to keep messing it up! :csk:

rajmarie Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Dont know whats the reason for so many dropped catches though. It looks like desis are dropping more then foreigners...but most of them should have been taken.
vvvslaxman Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I can understand fielders dropping at Mohali. A notorious place where even good fielders drop catches due to the awkward height of lights.
littlemaster1982 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I can understand fielders dropping at Mohali. A notorious place where even good fielders drop catches due to the awkward height of lights. Also Mohali has more than 10 floodlight towers instead of 4 :cantstop:
Stuge Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I can understand fielders dropping at Mohali. A notorious place where even good fielders drop catches due to the awkward height of lights. Can;t they put anti glare covering on those lights ?
