The points table would not fluctuate a lot considering the last 3-4 matches of the teams. Mumbai Indians are almost 100% sure of topping the points table. Their upcoming matches are: 54th match v Punjab at Mohali May 10, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 59th match v Deccan at Mumbai May 14, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 66th match v Rajasthan at Mumbai May 20, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 70th match v Kolkata at Kolkata May 22, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) The first two matches must be a walk in the park and the match against RR is also at Mumbai instead of Jaipur. So, the chances are quite good of winning at least 2-3 matches if not all 4. So, MI would surely move to the semis. Next comes KKR. KKR have a tough challenge ahead as 2 of their remaining 3 matches are against other semi-final prospects in MI and RCB. Their upcoming matches are: 58th match v Bangalore at Bangalore May 14, 2011 (16:00 local | 10:30 GMT) 65th match v Pune at Mumbai May 19, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 70th match v Mumbai at Kolkata The match against RCB would be crucial in deciding their standing in the points table. But even 1-2 win amongst the 3 matches would place them at the top 4 if not at the top 2. So, KKR are almost sure. The next best chance is for RCB. Infact, they might end up above the table compared to KKR if they win the RCB-KKR match. Their upcoming matches are: 50th match v Kochi at Bangalore May 8, 2011 (16:00 local | 10:30 GMT) 55th match v Rajasthan at Jaipur May 11, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 58th match v Kolkata at Bangalore May 14, 2011 (16:00 local | 10:30 GMT) 63rd match v Punjab at Dharamsala May 17, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 69th match v Chennai at Bangalore They should easily win at least 2-3 matches amongst these and would cruise to the semis and might even make it to the top 2. Next is CSK. The upcoming matches of CSK are: 52nd match v Rajasthan at Jaipur May 9, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 56th match v Delhi at Chennai May 12, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 64th match v Kochi at Chennai May 18, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 69th match v Bangalore at Bangalore May 22, 2011 (16:00 local | 10:30 GMT) So, CSK does not have any other big opponents left except RCB and should win at least 3 matches if not all 4 and make it to the semis easily. I do not consider RR and KTK have much chances. The upcoming matches for Rajasthan Royals are: 52nd match v Chennai at Jaipur May 9, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 55th match v Bangalore at Jaipur May 11, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 61st match v Kochi at Indore May 15, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 66th match v Mumbai at Mumbai May 20, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) At least 3 of their matches are against other heavyweights of IPL and the fourth match is also against the giant killers Kochi. So, their chances are quite minimal as it would be hard to win even 1-2 of the matches. Their minimal chances would depend on their next two matches against CSK and RCB respectively at their fortress Jaipur after which they would leave their fortress for the rest of the tournament. KTK has an even lesser chance and their next four matches are: 50th match v Bangalore at Bangalore May 8, 2011 (16:00 local | 10:30 GMT) 57th match v Punjab at Indore May 13, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 61st match v Rajasthan at Indore May 15, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) 64th match v Chennai at Chennai May 18, 2011 (20:00 local | 14:30 GMT) Except KXIP the other matches might be quite hard to crack. I wont be surprised if they lose all four without the backing of their home crowd as all their matches are away matches now. Rest all teams are too far away from the top 4 for any real contention. So, the points table might interchange a bit within the top 4 but it will be the present top 4 as the four semi-finalists at the end of the league stage. Congrat MI, RCB, KKR and CSK for moving to the semis. One of these four will be the IPL champion this year. :two_thumbs_up:

saneindian Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Expect the unexpected. The likes of Punjab and Pune will surely spoil the chances of some other teams. Remember IPL 3? 4-5 teams ended on same number of points and the last 2 semi finalists were decided on NRR.

Holysmoke Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 CSK has a very tough run-in. Gotta face Bangalore in red hot form, Rajasthan at jaipur is not easy too. Delhi should be easy, Kochi could be tricky. CSK need to stock up on the sambhar.. they are going to need it.

The position might however fluctuate a bit as I mentioned earlier. There is a good chance of the points table position looking like this at the end of the league phase. 1. MI 2. RCB 3. CSK 4. KKR The second scenario if KKR wins the RCB and MI match then the table might look like this 1. MI 2. KKR 3. CSK 4. RCB

So, they number of points will always be odd numbers and others will have even numbers. So, they will either be ahead or below any of the other three teams but never with the same points. :winky:
