SachDan Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Jaipur: Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Warne has landed in trouble as the state's Cricket Association (RCA) has lodged a complaint against him with the BCCI and the IPL for publicly abusing its secretary Sanjay Dixit for not acceding to his request of a suitable pitch. The RCA has alleged that Warne, who has already announced his retirement from IPL as a player, misbehaved with Dixit for not acceding to his demand after Rajasthan Royals slumped to a humiliating nine-wicket defeat against Royals Challengers Bangalore in their last home match on Wednesday. RCA venue director Narendra Joshi has written to IPL's chief operating officer Sunder Raman, alleging that Warne had publicly abused Dixit by calling him "a liar and egoistic" and demanded action against the Australian. The ugly incident took place just after the prize distribution ceremony at the Sawai Man Singh stadium. Sources allegedly suggest that a disappointed Warne walked up to Dixit and abused him for not replying to his messages. He called Dixit a liar, egoistic and asked him to go away, forcing Rajasthan Royals owner Shilpa Shetty to intervene and apologise for the incident. RCA secretary Dixit also filed a separate complaint and had urged the BCCI and IPL to take stern action against Warne for pressuring him to provide a suitable wicket for Rajasthan Royals' home matches. According to the sources, Dixit has forwarded the text messages to BCCI which Warne had repeatedly sent him. When Dixit was asked about the incident, he said Warne's behaviour probably came out of frustration for the team's back-to-back defeats, which almost jeopardised Rajasthan Royals' chances of making it to the play-offs. "The BCCI has already clarified that the pitch comes under the purview of the pitch committee and curator. So, how could I have acceded to his demand? he questioned." "His behaviour was totally unjustified and I have asked for action against him. Shilpa Shetty was gracious to come and calm things down," Dixit added.

cowboysfan Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I think pitch should not be a factor in t20 cricket but there is double standard here.Csk play on a pitch completely not suited for t20 cricket but they get away with it and pack their team with spinners ,the royals cannot get away by doing the same thing.

vvvslaxman Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I don't know who to trust Warne or Dixit or Venkat sundaram. But one thing it proves is they come across as sore losers. Either way they were outplayed in both the matches they played.

Every BCCI official from Pawar's group has played dirty.

He wants BCCI/IPL to take action for the verbal abuse, which seems fair. If people go about accusing each other with no repercussions, then it would become the norm. IMO, it is Warne who has acted childish and unprofessional here.

Seems like rajasthan has taken contract to increase IPL trps by hook and crook lol
express bowling Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 It is not really clear whether Warne is to be blamed or Dixit or whether this is a big enough incident or just personal quarrel. But the fact that Warne is a legend should be immaterial in deciding this issue. If he is in the wrong then he should be given the same treatment as any other guilty person.
Blueraphael Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Warne's got to remember that getting a pitch that suits him is not his birthright. You play on what you get. PLus, he lost by 60 odd runs in the first match and 9 wickets in the 2nd. How the heck is the pitch responsible for this? If the margins of defeat were closer, maybe he could raise such issues, even then its quite a big maybe. Its just a case of of Warne being a sore loser IMO. JUst looking to blame the bad performance of his team.

Raghav_12 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 It's funny. All this started with Warne unnecessarily tried to drag Sachin in all this and finally ending with Warne having egg on his face. He should have known that his efforts to malign Sachin's impeccable image, going to fail and backfire.
