Mariyam Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Now that the four semi finalists have been decided, and we are entering the final stage of this years competition, it is necessary to remind ourselves that this is merely a Bollywood tamasha. Irrespective of the outcome of this tournament, Mumbai is, was and will always be the #1 city when it comes to cricket in the country. There is an interesting story: Badshaah Akbar was once traveling in his dominions to get a feel of the country. He reached a road and saw a lot of commotion and people gathering and cheering. When he enquired, he found out that it was an archery competition. Lots of common city folk were participating and the prize for the winner was a silver amulet. Now everybody knows that the Badshah was the best archer in the world. He had proved that in the various battles he had won. He entered this meaningless competition and ended up as the runner up. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that Akbar was the best archer. it just shows that for a person who has amulets and rings of Gold, diamond, rubies, pearls and lapis lazuli , this silver amulet and this competition doesn't mean much. Magnanimity towards the subjects on the other hand was on the forefront. Similarly, when we (Mumbai) have won more Ranji trophies than the rest of the world combined, we really don't care about this Bollywood Tamasha. Its just a silver amulet and will increase the value of our treasury by 0.000012% . That too because I'm rounding off. Any serious follower of cricket will tell you that 1 Ranji = 4000 IPL wins. Everyone knows that test cricket is the real cricket. After all, test match cricket and Ranji are the only indicators of cricketing talent. IPL Tamasha is for people like fineleg, MTC, Gaurav92, S=G,YoungIndia, Bossbhai, Pravin etc who do not understand the complexities and nuances of test cricket. True cricket fans like me, Zelig, Aaku, etc always prefer test games. Jinx thread
