saneindian Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Has been woefully short of confidence or maybe complacent after all the money he got. But he showed in the lat IPL that he can bat well. RCB made the mistake of taking him as someone who is a big hitter which he clearly he isn't. Mumbai used him mostly in top 4 which gave him the time to settle down and play his shots. At RCB he batted at 6 and looked in terrible form.

Tiwary is good batsman and has good temperament which he showed last IPL when he batted top of the order and played some important innings for MI, especially MI fans should remember those innings. In one of which he smashed Dale Styen all over the park in Champions League.

Ram Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Saurabh Tiwary is a star of the future for india, maybe not in the t20s (much like kohli, he is not a come-in-to-bat-and-start-smashing-immediately batsmen), but more of an accumulator who can muscle the odd four/six. And that, along with his Raina style mental maturity and toughness, make him the obvious middle order candidate for india in Odis. He does not get the credit he deserves because he batting is not aesthetically pleasing to eyes, when compared to someone like Rohit Sharma. But I guarantee you - you give this boy 80 Odis and batting spots as generous as Sharma's, he will average atleast 10 more runs per innIngs than Sharma did, at a far better sr and win us at least twice the matches that Rohit managed. It is actually really surprising to see people target Tiwary for whatever the reason. All you need to do is to see how Mumbai's IPL campaign disintegrated towards the end to see how valuable a player he was to them, last year. Mumbai could not sustain the momentum through the tournament for the simple reason that, once sachin simply ran out of steam towards the end and their top order began to falter, they had no real substantive middle order to fall back on. Last year, the combo of Tiwary and rayudu were as instrumental as any thing else, in getting mi all the way to the final. Tiwary has all the required attributes to be a successful middle order batsmen for india, apart from the fact that he is also a solid fielder. I am looking forward to the time when our middle order batting in Odis will be under the safe guard of the quartet of kohli-Raina-Rohit-Tiwary.
