Zero_Unit
Not pwned at all...... Thats a pretty rubbish response I have adressed the good old "England steal players" bs many times... I have to agree with you on this one. It's upto the players to choose who they want to play for or whose jersey they want to wear. It's not the board who is stealing them, the board is simply giving an opportunity and nothing else. It's like saying an Indian engineer gets a job offer in USA with better options and better income then what he is making at india. Why would he not take that job opportunity? He is not helping India anymore with his skills, he is helping USA now and representing as an USA's worker. So does that mean USA stole that man from his origin? Ofcorse not, they offered him a job and it was upto him to accept it or not. Anyways joking aside, people shoudn't make rubbish and hard hitting comments on the ENGLAND team for no reason what so ever. Link to comment

limon
ICC should arrange an unofficial test match tournament among Bangladesh, Ireland, pak, WI and ZIM. :) Link to comment

jairamesh
Ireland doesn't have a first class structure in place (yet), as opposed to Zimbabwe who also have their first class domestic competition up running after a lull of few years. On that pre-requisite, Zimbabwe would deserve it more than Ireland. Link to comment
Zelig
^ I hope you know that the Irish play in a much more competitive league (counties) compared to Zim. Link to comment
jairamesh
^ I hope you know that the Irish play in a much more competitive league (counties) compared to Zim. And how long before ECB stop allowing Irish players playing in county once they realise they can't nab the likes of Eoin Morgan if Ireland are granted Test status? ECB have already acted against the Kolpak rules which granted white South African players to ply their trade in county cricket unrestricted, often to the detriment of young English born players. It would be hypocritical to grant Ireland Test status without a domestic First Class infrastructure. SL had to go through, Bangladesh had to go through, and Ireland should if they have ambitions to get Test status. And I can't imagine the ECB allowing Irealand to piggy back it's infrastructure for muft. Link to comment
Misu243
Time to consider the mighty Kenyans for test status now as well. It is only fitting to honor veterans like Steve Tikolo and Thomas Odoyo by giving them a chance to play in test matches before they retire. Link to comment

The Burnt Nan
It's basically ridiculous and demeans the value of Tests and records if teams of the strength of Zim get full status ( Bangladesh was bad enough - only now becoming marginal and still not convinced infrastructure/ strength in depth is there - which should be the strict criteria , Frankly even WI are on brink) At one time MCC sides were awarded full test status , and we have had ICC Rest of World sides , surely it is kinder and more honest in a crowded programme of Tests to have composite sides of "the best of "associate teams etc. and also maybe include the perennial bridesmaids /12th men of the strongest sides ( who may be being left out of their national sides for regional politics etc.) just to provide true progress and involvement to such able individuals and the sport in their part of the world. To illustrate better , let's consider which of the two hypothetical comments purporting to be press reports , leaves you upset more Scenario 1 Today Subramanium Badrinath in partnership with Ryan ten Doeschate hauled the RoW side into the box seat @ the Bourda against an Aussie team that had scented blood after 3 early gains. The pair put on an unbroken 264 stand after coming together @ 47-3, both notching centuries in the final hour, Badrinath who has largely been overlooked by India , seemed the more watchful.... Scenario 2 Mohammed Ashraful took centre stage against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo earlier today, gaining a share, however brief,in cricket history's blue riband title- that of highest individual innings in a Test- picking up where he left off yesterday and duly passing the landmark which had looked increasingly possible after a furious assault in the morning session, on the depleted Zim attack which was missing their main pace spearhead following an overnight bout of food poisoning . Ashraful's 435 reclaims a record held briefly by the West Indian Gayle ( also against Zimbabwe)... Get the point !!!! Link to comment
