Sachinism Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 WTF is this BS ECB were planning on making their own IPL, Atherton and Gower are in support of it, felt as though ECB should have done. Felt it was the perfect opportunity to play in the English summer when overseas players would be available. There seemed to be a fear of BCCI possibly not releasing Indian players for a possibly perceived 'rival league' Yet when it comes to IPL, they just talk it down They're discussing it now on Sky Sports
Laaloo Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 They also said it would be perfect time for both the Americas and India
Sachinism Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Warne wants a window for IPL, which is a view I feel most people now share. Can't fight them, join them...
Laaloo Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Then Atherton says April May is where West Indies play.
Sachinism Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Atherton doesn't like the IPL due to its scheduling, Mar/Apr/May is when WI host tournaments. Having in it England (North Hemisphere) it would be ideal as nobody else is really playing
Sachinism Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Good point from Atherton about the window, saying why should IPL get a window, because SL, Aus are starting franchise leagues. What is England started one, would they get a window too?
putrevus Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Good point from Atherton about the window' date=' saying why should IPL get a window, because SL, Aus are starting franchise leagues. What is England started one, would they get a window too?[/quote'] That is precise reason why BCCI never insisted in IPL windows and always have claimed to be a domestic T-20 tournament. They don't want ICC to provide window for IPL and thereby giving windows for other countries. BCCI knows nobody in world has money to pay like IPL so there is no competition from anybody.Players will always come where there is more money we all know the answer. Atherton has wet dreams unless ECB becomes overnight like English Soccer they never can compete with Indian TV market.
Zap_Brannigan Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 IPL doesn't need the IPL window. Its the players who need the IPL window. Most players can afford to skip all the other leagues but not the IPL. Besides BCCI never asked for an IPL window. Its the players who have been supporting it.
Guest Gunner Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Oh the irony, the "English IPL". :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
mishra Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I think Aterton spends too much time at may be his holiday home... Either they can play International cricket or English premier Cricket league (whatever they name it..) Summer is short and generally packed for them.... Unless he is talking about some Indoor T20 Cricket with those weird rules... :haha:
Sachinism Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Oh the irony' date=' the "English IPL". :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:[/quote'] Yeh he actually put it across like that :cantstop:
King Tendulkar Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 When Atheton said no corruption officers in IPL in SA, warne pawned him , have you heard something etc. Atherton, No and then goes quiet. One minute IPL is evil, next minute atherton wants english equivalent and says can still do it and should do it. Shows all the anti IPL from them is pure jealousy. Warne did well putting pros of IPL across. Yes IPL aint pefect but is not the evil monstrosity potrayed by jealous english
Vijay.Sharma Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Atherton doesn't like the IPL due to its scheduling, Mar/Apr/May is when WI host tournaments. Having in it England (North Hemisphere) it would be ideal as nobody else is really playingHow is English season the only time when no other teams play? If I am not wrong, SL's season starts as early as July/Aug/Sep. There is no single month in the calendar where international cricket is not played anywhere in the world. There is probably not even 15 days these days when international cricket is not being played. And more importantly, IPL is designed for Indian markets...we want the best talent to come and showcase their skills to us in our cities (unless Govt says we cant play IPL because of elections) and we are willing to pay them good for it.

Vijay.Sharma Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 And if and when we decide we want to see some of our IPL games happening in foreign lands, then the IPL will find a way to host them everywhere, including in England and ECB will be among the first ones to say "oh please come and play in our country"
