Possible Pace Bowling Options for England Tour

We have quite a few options to select from if all are fit. Zak Ishant PK These three are must in England. Then, RP Singh Muanf Sreeshanth Mithun Umesh Yadav Varun Aaron Two will be selected from these. I would choose RP for his left arm swing and Varun Aaron for his pace and he is pretty accurate to give him a tour with Team like we Had Ishant on the last tour. I picked PK instead mental midget Sreeshsanth, but selectors may give him preferrance over Aaron or any other inexperience bowler, but I believe if we are taking 5 pacers, one of them should be selected for learning purposes coz we will play with three pacers only. Even Munaf will be better than Sreeshant, but has questionable fitness. Important thing, selectors must select standby like Ozzies and England do because we have seen enough examples when our pacers get injured during the tour and we do not get replacements on time. English board is very quick in this matter. They also keep standby players to replace any injured play at the last moment, especially on tours.

Munaf and Sree will be picked ahead of PK' date=' if they are fit.[/quote'] I prefer Pk over Sreeshanth especially in England where he can use Duke ball which is pretty similar to SG more effectively and is rather reliable. Munaf has fitness issues to last 5 days in tests. Against a good batting side like England at home, we will need bowlers who can keep the pressure on consistently rather a bowler who will bowl innocuous spells filled with brilliance and rubbish simultaneously. I do not discount Sreeshanth. He is a wicket taker, but don't know what kind of a Sreeshnth comes out on a day and he does not turns out its headache for the captain.

RP?? Cmon the guy has done v little in FC cricket to merit selection! Umesh is not test class and Varun needs AT LEAST one more FC season. In short Sree has to play he has v good in the last 2 tests in SA, he would be in my XI...IS, ZK and him are first choice. PK and/or Munaf in the squad too.

There is not problem with his bowling if he keeps his mind on his bowling, but he bowls good balls and rubbish balls altogether. RP was one of the most impressive bowler on last England tour and Sreeshanth was highly unimpressive even after a successful tour of SA. He bowled well in SA because SA pitches are best for pacers..even novices do well there, but in England you do not want to miss any opportunity to use conditions which can change very drastically and if we miss by rubbish bowling which he is certainly capable of, then it is all leather hunt for fielders. RP Singh is a of bowl who knows how to go in seaming conditions and gives variety with his left arm angle. Umesh Yadav has not played a test yet, so don't be too judgmental on him. He has been groomed as a future fast bowler for India and will be in the frame until he gets the opportunities to fail.

OP was comparing PK with Dada's and Colly's bowling lol. Suddenly PK is his first choice. Good to see the thought process change. The 4 pacers for the test tour sould be Zak, Ishant, PK, Sree with the 5th choice being between Munaf/RPS. If fit, Munna may actually pip RP for that spot. Varun and Umesh will most likely go to Australia with India A squad for the emerging players tournament and their selection for the ODIs would depend on how they bowl there.

I was comparing the pace of these, especially in Windies. Pace is still similar and he wont happen that he will swing it every time. He is not an all seasoned bowler and he has just bowled against less accomplished batsman till now in this test. I would still have not played him in WI, but I am favoring him for England rather than forced to see nightmares of Sreeshanth. I would love him to be succeed to replace SreeShanth in England tests. He will be a better bowler in England, but there he will have to bowl against the likes of Trott, Cook, KP, and Bell. I would love to see him successful in tests. I am not his hater. In fact, I like him even before he was selected for India and was hoping for his India chance since his debut season when he was the highest or probably second highest wicket taker in Ranji trophy , if i remember 39 wickets, he had taken in his first season for UP but I was not hopeful of his test performance and I would still say if he can increase a bit of pace consistently at around 130-135 instead of 125-130...he can be unplayable in any condition.

I agree re RPS and Sree- in that at full fitness and in form Singh would be a much better option. I was there at Trent bridge in 07 when he was Zak were fantastic, he got KP with a real Jaffa that day.. However since that from what I have read and heard he has fallen by the way side, pace has dropped and is becom unfit. Until that has been kind sorted, Im not sure he should play. Sree does tend to be too inconsistent, yes, but when on song he can be very dangerous. I think the conditions in Eng should help his swing bwoling right? We need to hope that having a warm up match gets him into rhythm prior to test 1 and he comes in the series bowling well.

While Sreeshanth...ya on song he is even dangerous than Zak...he mostly sings his own song and don't bowl on song enough...even in a single spell his fortunes can turn dramatically that is the problem

Munaf and Sree will be picked ahead of PK' date=' if they are fit.[/quote'] +1 Strictly for test matches only. I hope we dont have to pick PK against England... Even RP did well when he visited England last time around..... English batsmen are not like WI. Strauss,Cook,Trott,Bell,,KP,Morgan are a lot more composed when it comes to test cricket. There is another reason. PK was warned/penalised for coming down the wicket. In domestic cricket also he has been warned. Biggest problem is that it was not intentional. Umpires will watch him more closely now on... We cant afford to loose a bowler in the middle of a test inning...

If PK continues to play well this series and swings the ball then Sree won't make the England squad. It's no secret the team and especially Dhoni is getting sick of his childish antics and garbage bowling. They just needed someone else to come up and prove themselves and if PK/Munaf can do that then Sree will be dropped like a bag or rubbish.

not to mention his lack of consistency. but when he gets it right, boy does he get it right
