King Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 At the moment, he is about 10th or over 10th in the picking order. He will only play a test match if the top 10 fast bowlers in India come down with an injury in one go or if Pathan takes several 5 fers or 10 fers at the start of the domestic season this year. He did give us some great moments in the past though.
Andy Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Hollow talk without performances to back it up makes IKP look foolish. Absolutely. This guy talks more than he should. And let his performance talk. I dont think he can get into the side, trundling as he used to do before.
Sooda Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 ^Do you think he called a press conference just to announce this??!
Sooda Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 thats right ..at the 'Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuses and Illicit Trafficking'...
f.b.m Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 He always keeps regaining his old rhythm if his interviews are anything to go by. Any new soundbites?
saneindian Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 The BCCI made a mistake by not allowing him to go for the county t20 contract with Leicestershire. Now the poor guy , instead of playing some competitive cricket , is twiddling him thumb at home. Will he be picked for the India A side (which will play the emerging player's tournament) to gauge how well he is bowling at the moment? That is the only competitive cricket till the start of the domestic season in October.
Roshanrocks Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Fantastic.. And Sreeshant can now ball at 150 kmph (source twitter) Cant wait for similar updates from our cricketers....
deepak_sach Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Irfan Pathan has always been mediocre.Look at his average barring zimbabwe, bangladesh.
jeeves Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Irfan Pathan has always been mediocre.Look at his average barring zimbabwe' date='bangladesh.[/quote'] yeah!!!!....remember his unplayable yorker to gilchrist ,brilliant use of reverse swing to get waugh caught behind and that too in his debut series.when miandad said that a bowler like pathan was found in every alley of pakistan,he made the then yusuf youhana his bunny, getting him out time and again in that series.remember his first over hatrick in the karachi test.Just accentuates the point that such performances against the best were not mere stroke of luck.if anyone's got to be blamed, its Greg chappel _|_.he destroyed pathan's confidence just like he did with zaheer, munaf, sehwag and others.
Sooda Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 ^ Not to mention the fact that he was they key player in one of Indias best test wins of the last 5 years- Perth 08 and has won countless ltd overs matches for us notably the T20 final MotM performance. That is where his future lies as a Ltd overs player; he may not necessarily play test cricket unless India go with him and 4 other bowlers. But that is a long long way off for now.

gaurav92 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Every time he looks like he can play again after a break, he gives an interview to attract some eye balls, then with his sheer skills and attitude, blow away all the hopes, shatter all dreams that one would have had of Irfan making a comeback into the Indian Team :phehehe: P.S : The guy is spotless so he deserves no spot.
DomainK Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I hope he is right and that he proves it in the domestic matches and makes it back to the team.

gakgupta Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 how many times we heard this. Don't know, if he can bowl 5 years at a stretch. I still wonder, how come he got injured, having said that he hardly bowls 130kmph.
