Bhajji backers seem to be shying away....

Recommended Posts

The worst thing about Bhajji is not only has he not bowled well but he blocked other spinners like Ojha and Mishra from playing and developing as good bowlers. So we are stuck with a spinner without confidence and form and we dont have other spinners coming up who have experience at the international level. Bhajji has been persisted with way too long in the team despite his poor form for reasons best known to the management and India is paying the price for this.

I couldnt care less about Ashwin in Tests. He is a good T20 and ODI bowler and can bowl well in power plays but nothing I've seen of him has convinced me he could be a test bowler.
You dont understand his logic. Since you are not supporting bhajji, you are in the rasam/sambar/pongal/thair vada/mulagha bhajji brigade. As every idiot on this forum knows that this brigade only hates bhajji because they want Ashwin in and not because they would like a better bowler(whomever that may be), you have to put Ashwins name as bhajji's replacement. You fail mate. Get in on the working of this forum in the bajji threads.

It is a trap!!!! Emotional inertia for a "bhajji backer to criticize him" ..would far outweigh that(emotional inertia) of "Bhajji haters to start appreciating - for a while".. It is easy for haters to 'fake' appreciation, whereas backers would be under extreme emotional stress to do the opposite. The "emotional" stakes are not balanced.

Bhajji is not classical off spinner and doesn’t have spinner heart to give flight. But he has to keep his business going in the Test/ODI/T20 so he came with a unique combination of the bowling which suite all three formats. But can not blame him since we normally select players on ODI performances. As we play more ODI/T20 by default he start with defensive middle-leg stump bowling with eye on averages and hoping for batsman mistakes , But when he realize after first test that he is bowling in the test but not ODI then he will try to give more flight with less ball speed and sometime bowl from round the wicket. This change starts benefiting him after second/third test. Again it help him since our batsman does normally start to score more runs form second test onwards. But being a real hard worker he gives support in batting, teams go to man on opposition and keeping close friendship with Captain and Sachin and thanking all seniors for his success. Last couple of years Zaheer and other fast bowler performance has taken out the load from traditional Indian slow bowler so taking couple of wickets at around 30-35 average suit the team needs. But “Dil Mange more nature†of Indian fans want Aus-1 team Warne like role from Indian spinner or WI-1 team Marshall like performance from fast bowler. Again fans are not wrong because this team in no 1 ranked in the table and some of the batsman performance are real no 1 .
You obviously didn't seem him bowl against Aussies in that 2001 iconic series. It's just that over the last few years Bhajji has become more of a odi & T20 bowler and the biggest factor of his lousy bowling has been the fact that his doosra was deemed illegal - he hasn't been the same spinner since. Wish he bowls whatever he likes coz if likes of Ajmal can do so, so can Bhajji.

Deep down even the so called Bhajji supporters know his true aukaad and so were unwilling to even bet on him averaging 35 in a test series - they just like to chest thump because Bhajji happens to be from their religion/region.
Then he is not from your religion or region? What a lame argument.

You want lame? Here is lame : http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/29264.html?class=1;spanmin2=01+Jan+2005;spanval2=span;template=results;type=bowling For the last 54 tests, more than half his career, more than 6 years we have a 35+ averaging and 75 striking spinner in our team and he has been 'leading' our attack after Kumble's retirement. :hysterical:

None for 152... Oh Dear... I am so effed! :((
Hope it ends at that and you are indeed effed. On a more serious note this Harbhajan thing is getting quite ridiculous. I am not sure how this guy is getting picked game in and game out for Tests as an automatic selection. When so many of the fans (I mean a decent amount of them who seem to know what they are talking about) can see such flaws in his bowling then there obviously is some truth to it. It sure is turning out to be a mystery. Is it his business relations with MSD or his closeness to SRT that is helping his cause? Seems like a reasonable question to ask. At this point everything regarding Harbhajan's selection is a fair game.

Looking at those numbers over the last 50 odd Tests I will bet even Raina can get a wicket every 12 overs bowled on an average with 35 per and Yuvraj can better that. You do not need Dartbhajan disguising as a specialist spinner for that.
