In the last few years' date=' VVS has batted at 6 only when a nightwatchman has been sent in! No 5 is his permanent position now and in WI he batted at 4.[/quote'] Yeah, since 2009 he has batted at no 5 in 23 innings out of total 35 innings played. Out of 5 occasions when he batted at no 6 during, thrice he moved down because of Ishant and twice because of Mishra.

I think a simply fact is Dhoni is a very lucky captain. And you really need luck to become a good captain for "decent" team( remember when he started as captain, we were in crisis). And luck has continued for him including some strange and illogical decisions which in the end turned out to be right. A natural captain characteristics. But the biggest question for him is can he change when things are going bad( this stage happened with Ganguly as well) . For example, we all say Dhoni is a calm leader but that itself is no advantage, if winning, it would be praised. If losing, it will be criticized as being a quiet and weak leader.

Firstly, like it or not the whole foundation of Dhoni's captaincy started with very good fortune. At undoubtedly, he deserves all the successes he have had.He still is the best captain we have as I mentioned he is a natural captain...But the concern is will he change his thinking when things go differently?

Clearly some of you have no clue what leadership is all about. You think one captain can make a bunch of nincompoops look like winners ? This team is playing rank bad cricket and they are up against one of the best English XI ever. A captain has limited control over the results here.

^ No. His field placings, team selections, batting, keeping, strategies etc. is not up to the mark..You cannot ignore that. No point in blaming the team, bowlers, batsmen only. His field placings has been atrocious..Strauss could've done much better with these Indian bowlers.. Not to mention little things like keeping up to PKs bowling etc.

u cant have more than ONE passenger is cricket team... we got freaking 3-4 of them. Sehwag, sree, mishra, ishant, raina to some extend... RIDICULOUS. Dhoni is amazing because he achieved soo much with piece of junk bowling attack. Hats off to him, every good thing comes to an end, hopefully this is kick in the back for selectors.

Bumps, he gave up and then the team gave up. He did not fight. What happened here could never have happened with SCG.

Not any more.. Kumble would fought hard in this series if he would've been the captain.. This washerman would've conceded defeat during Sydneygate series if he would've been the captain in place of Kumble..He only wants to win the Nobel Peace prize in Cricket.. Nothing else..

I don't want to be harsh on him but he just gave up. I am just stunned by the fact that the Captain of India just gave up. I know he did not have the bowling attack to take 20 wickets but this has been the situation with NZ for almost 20 years but they still fight. I am a bit upset by the way he reacted to the situation compare that with SCG and you see a world of difference. I don't know a test series where SCG gave up.

Look, you can take any captain in history, they would have had games where their on-field tactics have been pathetic. I have seen Ganguly, Dravid, Kumble et al make such mistakes - some even bigger. Like batsmen and bowlers, captains also suffer poor form. Dhoni is going through a rough patch as a keeper, batsman and captain. IMHO, the Indian captains have a much bigger role to play in the dressing room than out in the middle. Our cricketers have played with the sort of ruthlessness and self-belief under Dhoni, that i have never seen before. Even the normally politically correct SRT has acked that Dhoni was the best captain he has played under. All the titles he has won so far in all the three formats in international cricket and IPL is not coincidence. I dont think good leaders become poor all of a sudden. And even if he has been poor in this series, so what ? We are gonna replace him with whom ? As long as Dhoni deserves a spot in the team, he is the best man to lead this team

It was more of a protest [ Which was wrong] Than Chickening out.
