Guest Gunner Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Hello All, The Gunz is hitting India next month. Full daru, kebab and shabab plans for a month. During this time I plan to go to north India for about 15 days. Will land in Delhi and from there trying to make my travel plans. Target states - HP, Punjab and UP. Kindly advice on top cities to visit. I have Chandigarh and Amritsar in mind for Punjab. But I am open to more ideas, particularly small towns, so people from that area pour forth with your ideas. If there are some melas or events going on in the small towns even better!! Language not a problem, The Gunz is fluent in Hindi and can manage Punjabi if spoken slowly. So come on folks, get cracking. PS: Jokes and giving ideas outside target states will invite instant infraction and potential B&, only exception to this rule is flamz. PPS: No Noida!!:mad:
cowboysfan Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Eat,pray, eat more, love.I dont see the point in visiting HP now.spring and fall seems ideal to me.
Mariyam Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 For Daru, Kebab and Shabab, you needn't travel so much. :P I think you can do Agra, Delhi, Jaipur (lil off your itinerary), and then head for a few days to the Himalayas: Rishikesh, Haridwar , and there's a place there where you can do white water rafting and all that. I guess the Garhwal area in August would be more fun than HP. Spend a day or two in Chandigarh. Best if some of the resident Northies can give you inputs.
Mariyam Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 No haryanaaaa ? :WTF: Gunner knows Hindi and Punjabi. He doesn't know Haryanvi. Maybe thats why. :P
Aaku Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Gunner knows Hindi and Punjabi. He doesn't know Haryanvi. Maybe thats why. :P He is like a haryanvi trapped ek southie ki body mein. :omg:
EnterTheVoid Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 So its me, you and Shwetabh that are going to be in the northern states at roughly the same time. What are the odds of that happening given that we three are at three different corners of the globe -- Ingerland, Amrika and that country just above Antartica. I will be at these places: Mumbai Hyderabad Chennai Delhi Ahmedabad and/or possibly Bangalore. If I can get a relative to tag along to some of the other places, will definitely go along.
Sooda Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Make sure you get married while youre there. Eat Amritsari Kulchas PK sent me this link once about them that made my mouth water

Guest Gunner Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Nagaland' date=' biotch. or Shillong. :woot:[/quote'] Flamz, either it has to be the north east which means I fly to kolkotta and start travel from there or I can go north starting from Dilli. Unfortunately I can't do both, the country is just too big. :(
Guest Gunner Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 for Daru Kabab and Shabab' date=' contact Nityanand[/quote'] I was not asking where I can find those, I was just asking for good places to go to. :P

Vijay.Sharma Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Gunna, how about smuggling yourself across the border into Nepal and check out dem mountains and treks there On a serious note, 'yam's idea of the golden triangle sounds good. There are packaged tours for that. Get some days in Rajasthan...it will be worth it.
Mariyam Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Gunner, this time of the year would be pretty hot (and sticky) in Delhi and North India in general. Jaipur, Agra & Delhi could be fun, but it would be a cauldron. Garhwal would be comparatively more pleasant and you could do treks/mountaineering also.
