Oh and maybe a few guest appearances as sub fielder. dude , av some respect for the guy who won us world cup ! Although it would be unfair if Raina is not given the chance, but he was lucky in a way that he just threw his bat around while batting with tailenders ! as much as i hate to say this, but it would be a miracle if Yuvi plays the first test. but i think he will play in this series and will show that he can do what adam gilchrist did for aus in lower middle order. DeepFineLeg Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I would like to see Mukund play in England. I agree with those that believe he requires a few more tests before a conclusive view. Any guy that averages 60 in first class cricket and with more centuries than half centuries, deserves an extended run. Moreover, I have a theory that Mukund will like English pitches with ball coming on to the bat (provided he can handle the seam movement and additional bounce).

They first approached Dravid for being an opener who apparently refused and then the management went to Yuvraj asking him if he is ready to open. The reporter said Mukund is more or less certainly not playing the test match and one out of RD/Yuvi will be asked to open alongside Gauti.

Edgbaston and Trentbridge too difficult for UV's current technique

Man I won't be surprised if a Star News Employee checked our ICF and thought of making a masala news after reading this thread for the whole of India.

Only problem is its from "reliable sources" and you never know what that reliable soruce could be! Jokes aside,, the Star News reporter on Cricket, Shivendra Kumar Singh is quite accurate with his predictions on team composition. I wouldn't be surprised to see Yuvraj as the opener in the first test. Unless he refuses and decided to sit out of the test squad instead.

But, Can Dhoni Surprise us all?? and Play Yuvi as opener?With Gambhir. Anyone remember the 2008 tour to Australia? Dravid was made to open in first 2 test and a lot of people felt that before the series, Yuvraj might turn up as opener with Jaffer since Dravid no. 3 slot will remain with him. But it didn't happen. I won't be surprised if Yuvraj plays actually and Mukund is dropped for the first test.There can be other possibility too-i.e Dhoni opening with the Gambhir.And with Dhoni it can be expected as he did surprised peopl lot of time.Yuvraj will fail as opener his ideal place is 5,6.

I have beeen saying all through out that Mukund deserves the chance which he is getting. He is our domestic champion along with guys like Rahane and some more. You can't just throw them back to domestic after giving them 2-3 innings. These guys have scored tons of runs in our domestic and deserve to get a GO of 2 series atleast. So yes, I will stick to what I say and would have Mukund get another chance.
