maniac Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Wow I have just realised how much extra baggage we have in our squad Saha Harbhajan 'Injured' Zaheer and whoever replaces him 'Injured' Sehwag Ishanth Sreeshanth's belly Munaf Amit Mishra I would have included PK but his performance in the 1st test made me a semi-beleiver but i still think he will get owned on the flatter pitches with no swing
ahilya Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 +2 to it. more over TI is seems to be still drunk into the success of WC win hence this performance.
zen Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 basically, we are a Sehwag, GG, Dravid, Ten, Lax and Zak team .... The best bowler (Zak)and the best batsman (Sehwag) in test are injured
Karan114 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Silly mentioning Saha - who is the reserve English Test keeper, for example? Its hard finding decent Test standard keeper batsmen for any country. As for the rest, its no secret that our bowling relies heavily on Zak. Sreesanth (Kanpur Test against SL in 2009, series in SA in 2010) and Bhajji (Kolkata Test against SA, series in SA) occasionally deliver against good teams but are largely rubbish. Ishant is dire against any half decent batting line-up though he destroys bad teams like WI, NZ and Bangla. Zak takes wickets with the new ball, old ball, Indian pitches, overseas pitches...losing him has been catastrophic for us.
apuk79 Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 well what to do? bring in..... RP Singh? R Ashwin? Get ganguly out of retirement!!!! Fact is Indian bowling stock is poor. Indian spin quality is NOT good. Swann has outbowled Harbajhan in this match

The best bowler (Zak)and the best batsman (Sehwag) in test are injured[/quote'] That is a known fact but what about the rest of the squad....unfit Sreeshanth-what the hell was he doing in his break:roti: applicable to Zaheer also...Fire the physio or the doctor who gave them clearence. tried and tested failures at the test level-Munna, Amit Mishra and Yuvraj Singh whom I forgot to add earlier. Persisiting with Dartbhajan Ishanth has become a baggage now but chalo we can give him benefit of the doubt after his WI performance I don't get what is so special about Saha...why not Dinesh Karthick or Parthiv Patel who have more credibility than him. This is really poor planning by the selection commitee at BCCI This is definetely not a knee-jerk reaction, like it was already mentioned in the Kapil Dev criticises Dhoni thread when your prime bowler gets injured in the first session of a test match and your WK starts bowling then there is definetely a problem with the planning.

BCCI and planning don't usually go hand in hand .... If they had the senses to plan, someone like Harbhajan would have been phased out from tests a long time ago But we have been in this type of situation before and able to come out of it through some brilliant individual performances .... some of those, I listed will have to do it
Cricket Tragic Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 2 weeks back-->Karma can beat Steyn and become number 1 in the world. Today-->Fecking extra baggage. :cantstop:
maniac Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 BCCI and planning don't usually go hand in hand .... If they had the senses to plan, someone like Harbhajan would have been phased out from tests a long time ago But we have been in this type of situation before and able to come out of it through some brilliant individual performances .... some of those, I listed will have to do it In the past we have had the support of some unknown/Unproven commodity raising the level of his bowling to support our batting greats...RP Singh in Eng, Sreeshanth in SA, Harbhajan back in 2001,Sir Aggy in Aus 2004,Ishanth in 2008 etc etc and all this was while having a decent support in the form of Kumble,Harbhajan(back in the day:(( ),Zaheer. Now we neither have a support as Zaheer looks in terrible shape or we don't have the surprise package.all we have is washed up has-beens like Munna and Mishra as backup.Praveen once his novelty factor wears off annd he gets a normal pitch does not sound very promising. I would love for us to pull this off but I fear this time around we are in deep &^%$
Guest Gunner Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Dude, not everybody bowls well at Lord's on their first outing. The slope makes it a tricky pitch and Ishant will bowl well in the second innings. stay calm.
maniac Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 The reason why Ishanth is a concern is because I have not seen too many fast bowlers lose rhythm in such a short span of time after just being in the bowling groove of his life hardly 2 weeks back. Too early calling him a baggage yet but it is scary as generally bowling or batting forms last atelast more than 2-3 weeks
Cricket Tragic Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Karma needs to learn from Broad. He bowled far too short against SL but got results by pitching it up today. If he continues to bowl short, he will get smashed and we don't have Zak to remove the the two openers either.
maniac Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 Is it safe for me to add Dhoni or still do we consider the mythical powers of his captaincy while making the desicion. This is purely speaking in terms of test match capabilities. I might come across as sore and a fair-weather fan but seriously a golden opportunity to shut everyone's mouths about our No1 status has been put in jeopardy thanks to our boards erratic team selection and lack of planning I wish and pray for us to pull this off but seriously we have covered a lot of bases to succesfully **** this up.
IKnowU Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Ohja, Pujara/Kohli/Rohit, Dinesh Karthik need to replace Harbhjan/Mishra, Yuvraj, Raina and Saha
Cricket Tragic Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Yeah, drop Raina after one innings and bring back Kohli who failed in the WI/Rohit who has never played a test/Pujara who is in a cast.

I wonder what's going through some of the posters mind when they write these kind of posts.

We all can have fun then posting on the various threads that will pop up then...:icflove:
