Sooda Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I know there is a 'Should Morgan be No 6' thread, but this is a little bit of a separate issue. Obvious-ish change too. With Broad and Bresnan genuinely good bowler-batsmen, they can make up for the lack of a no 6 bat. And the pressure on our batsmen with the four pacemen incl Tremlett with Swann supporting will be relentless. Definitely worth pursuing from Engs point of view
daryl1985 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Totally agree, especially on flat tracks. The thing is, Trott, Prior, Cook and Bell have been on golden runs recently (Cook has started to falter). When that ends, they could struggle a bit.
Sachinism Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Leave Tremlett out for next test, go with Bresnan, make sure Tremlett is fully fit for Oval
Hell Raiser Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I think they will leave Swann out as he is not 100% and go with 4 fast bowlers.
akshayxyz Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 I think Dhoni should bat at English#6, to make it a fair contest.
deepak_sach Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 No.England might just collapse if you go in with 5 batsman +prior.
Zero_Unit Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 If anyone that needs to be benched is Swann. He has been easily played by our batsmen and Morgan can give a moral boost if top order collaps. Tremlet + Brensan + Broad can be a nightmare for our batsmen with the shortballs.
Cricket Tragic Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 They might need to in the winter when they play in Dubai and AD. Flower and the management love the 4 bowlers so I don't think that they'll change it atleast in home tests. In the future, they might get some like Stokes in at number 6 since he provides a valuable seam bowling option.
Trichromatic Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 It seems that he will remain part of the team even when Tremlett comes back. So, Bresnan will sit out in next test?
