Hate to see our batters chasing a big score in 4th innings in 4th and 5th day when it could've been us who are setting the target for Poms.. This is why I am always the fan of Ponting's mantra , win the toss and bat first..

I just dont get it. A good pitch and we have decided to bowl first. We have burnt our fingers in the first match ' date=' bowling first and had to bat in 5th day pitch. Dhoni needs to back his batting and bat first.! It looks like India is playing for a draw from the outset, this defensive mode is not gonna help in this series...[/quote'] There's nothing strong about this team, bating or bowling. Dosn't matter if we win or loose toss.

We had them at 124/8, should've dismissed them for 150, and then from 270 for 4, should've made 400. We were simply not good enough, let's not blame the decision to bowl first for this defeat.

its one thing not taking wickets?but how hard it is to bowl tight in Tests.Bell scored at SR of 90 in first session n 75 overall.I doubt even Veeru could do that against a decent bowling on such a pitch.

yep, remember it so well. gangers holding up an end but when your number 10 and 11 is srinath and ashish kebab, what did we expect?

The last test in 2002 was worse because it started raining 10 mins after the game and didn't stop for the next 3 days!
I remember that and it rained there for 2 continous day :wall:

^ Yes, we lost the advantage ( if not the game), when we allowed them to comeback from 124/8 and then half of our team choked from 260/4. The same English team would have bundled within 300 under same condition today, had we got a lead of 150 or so - which were all set for. We have ourselves to blame for this situation. With this attitude/performance batting first would not have changed anything.

Exactly...we got into excellent positions in both the first and second innings, and then threw them away in spectacular fashion. That has everything to do with our own failings, nothing to do with the toss. I mean, Broad picking up five wickets for no run...wtf?
