pensionplan Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Surprised there are still no serious calls for Irfan "Chuhah" Pathan.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I would give Ashwin a go and see what he's capable of. Whatever I have seen of him so far, he looks a much better bowler than Harbhajan and a decent bat who can at least hang around.
daryl1985 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I don't think there are any for tests. Angelo Matthews is an excellent all rounder for Sri Lanka in ODI's but has struggled with his bowling in tests. All rounders are rare in test cricket (good ones anyway)
rkt.india Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 You do not get perfect alrounders in test cricket and there is no one right now in world cricket. Test is a game of specialists and real alrounders are a rarity. Important thing is we need specialist bowlers who can bat as well. Broad, Bresnan, and Swann all are mainly bowlers who can bat and has improved with time.

akshayxyz Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 No need of all rounders, if players can execute their primary skills in best way.
someone Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 The blind love for Irfan is really incredible. He is good as nothing at the moment. Currently, Jadeja is miles ahead of him as he has performed well both with the bat and the ball in domestics and maybe IPL also...

nsareen Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Seems Ravindra Jadeja is doing well. http://www.cricketkarnataka.com/frm_W_Scoreboard.aspx?MatchID=7041ad8b-8eb9-4e41-bd42-529a5608eda9 http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/527315.html
Trichromatic Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 If Jadeja was a good batsman, then he could have been a handy all-rounder for tests. But a FC average of 41 in India means he can't bat in test matches and bowling.... well, he can be better than Sree.
nsareen Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 another all round performance by jadeja http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/527311.html

He can be a handy cricketer, atleast has to be tried in the longer format, he has potential and has the stats to show for themselves. Best of 7 in an innings, and just got a 6fer in another unclassified FC match. he does have it in him to take wickets, and we know he can bat a bit, can't score many, but can be a handy contributor.

Test cricket is not for bits and pieces players. A decent all-rounder should be good in batting or bowling.

Well neither of the current indian bowlers have bettered 7 wickets in an innings, or better FC bowling average to what jadeja has. So by these standards, he is a quality bowler in FC matches. And to add to that he is a handy bat. Easily a ood allrounder
Rahul Dravid Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I don't think there are any for tests. All rounders are rare in test cricket (good ones anyway) in sub-continent yes. but hey looking at this Bresnan bloke.... he sure can be a great allrounder in tests and odis !!... great talent.
