No, it was a tongue-in-cheek post, not a very serious one. So I am surprised at people taking it so seriously and writing paragraphs about how good the others including Dravid was as if that needs to be said. We all know how good they were and really appreciate it.

It is the likes of Mukund, Raina, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Sreesanth and Ishant that are killing us with their inconsistency. All youngsters. I still cant believe how the selectors almost forced Ganguly to retire from tests.

Alchemist Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Different topic for a sad day. I have been following cricket since Early 90s. I have seen lows and I have seen highs in that time period. One thing that I have noticed about Indian cricket team is that this team is better in fielding than the one in 90s. Dont get me wrong. It is nowhere near the standards of SA or NZ. But in comparison with yester years, this group is better. (The opinion is in general and not related to one or two off series) This brings me to the main question. - Do you guys think that with current fielding side, Srinath would have been able to take a lot more wickets ? I mean, I have seen that guy bowl with all the fire he had. A lot of catching opportunities were wasted during his bowling. Would be interested to see what other people think ?
Yoda-esque Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 While our out-fielding was never spectacular in the 90s (remember Kumble's fall-on-the-ball stunt after it had passed him?) , we have always held on to catches. So No, Srinath would not have taken too many more wickets.
