Whether Sunny and Ravi think they speak their mind or not, for viewers, there will always be this lingering doubt as to whether they speaking for N. Srinivasan and the board or giving their own view, on any subject.

IIRC, BCCI themselves openly released it to the media almost two or three years back that as part of their PR/Media thingy and to have an Indian voice in the commentary box even when the telecaster is not in contract with BCCI, that it has chosen to sign up Shastri and Gavva as it's expert commentators. This is old news folks....It was an open "secret" then also coz BCCI made a bloody specific press release calling people of the press to come hear the new initiative - that of the contracted commentators as part of improving their interfacing with the media and fans in general. I think the official commentary thing has been going on for almost 2 years now. Harsha was also contracted to them up to certain extent. It's only after that happened that Sanjay Manjrekar got a contract with ESPN-Star coz vacancies were created when these two left. How else do you think Harsha has been commentating in IPL for the last 2 years? Remember Harsha was an ESPN-Star fellow and he would've been direct conflict if he commentated on Sony. Harsha's contract with ESPN-Star is a new one which does not restrict him from commentating during IPL for Sony. This is old news in new bottle...damn the media create some crap where there is none

I saw it on the News X / NDTV 24*7 as a regular news item back then itself

Just coz you are contracted with some organization doesn't make your views the property of the organization's. If you change your views to match your organization's view every time then you are a puppet. If you are in contradiction with the organization's views every time then you and the organization shouldn't have signed up in the first place. If the organization does not give you breathing space to express your own opinion then you make a choice: quit the org or stay enslaved. By no means do I think Shaz and Gavva are enslaved. Or for that matter any commentator is. Each and every one of them is enslaved to their personal biases - that I can assure you.
