ViruRulez Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I think the problem is going to be only in Tests. Our ODI teams will continue to do well. We were never a no.1 ODI team. We were a no.1 test team only. So, if we are not doing great in a format where we were supposedly the best I doubt we will do very well in ODIs too. I am not saying about hits and misses as that is what we were also doing in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. I am saying about becoming the best in the long run like Aussies were in the 2000s. Or at least giving a serious competition to win. And I don't want bloody hype either without substance like it happened in the 2007 WC. We need to be a dominating team in the long run in all conditions. If we are going to remain a team like we were in the 90s or early 2000s then I am not sure what should we be so happy about. Since 83, we have done OK in almost every WC except the 2007 WC. So, I do not want only to get into quarter finals or at best semis like we did in those days. I want a cup in Australia too so that they can prove themselves to be great there too.
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I m in the anti-dravid camp. Dravid and laxman are acting selfish for personal self worth. Dravid and Llaxman should have dropped before the west indies series in June, and forced into retirement. Short memories. Dravid is averaging almost 60 this year and saved us in England on pitches which tested reflexes and eyesight, and he also made contributions in the last test. Laxman i agree has been well targeted by Aus because he has done so much damage in the past and he hasnt so far been able to play himself in. This does not mean he is past it just needs to be given a chance before dropped, plus im sure he will retire in the next 12 months. Replacements like Raina, Kohli, UV have all not shown any potential but have been given chances. If we retired Dravid, Laxman and SRT after this series apart from Sharma and Pujara (neither has proven themselves yet, i know they have not been given a chance but they are still unknowns) we will be trying youngsters who would all struggle outside India.
zen Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 May be not a bad idea to try the one below in near future: - GG - Rahane - Pujara - Sehwag - Rohit - Kohli - WK - Ashwin - Zak - Ishant - Yadav Reserves: - Aaron - Ojha / Spinner - Mukund / opener - Middle order batsman - WK
BeautifulGame Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 So because Sachin Dravid and Laxman have decline due to age they are FTB  Are some of the posters here were in Mars when we tourned Eng and Aus in 2007? Or do we have some of the dumbest fans of any country? Why cant we just accept that even the best of them decline with age and needs to be replaced. And what exact basis are we accusing the next generation batsmen as FTB? Just because some of our finest are struggling we want to take our frustration on the upcoming generation without giving them even a chance to prove.Give me a break
Sidhoni Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 we need to hire somebody to injure dravid. put this sick little puppy out of his misery. he is so ****ing useless but wont leave unless someone punches him in the face. gambhir should be dropped for bad form. laxman is going the same way. dhoni is incapable of playing test cricket, neither is kohli. sehwag and tendulkar are the only ones scoring... Maybe we should send you to Sydney and see what you can do
bulbul Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Maybe we should send you to Sydney and see what you can do Sweep the ground and clean *******
adi B Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 sachin should play only in important test series nd all the tours outside sc, so that he`ll remain fit for 3 more years at least.....as far as the other 2 oldies, they must remain till the next years home series vs oz nd then retire gracefully bcoz i really do feel somehow by winning series vs england nd oz, we can top the ranking charts :--D

(he can even retire from ODI as i dont see what Motivation he left in ODI)
Andrew Peter Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 either play all or Retire ... (he can even retire from ODI as i dont see what Motivation he left in ODI) 2 Hazar Pandrah ka Vishwa Cup
bulbul Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 2 Hazar Pandrah ka Vishwa Cup 2019 nahi chayiye kya :winky:
BeautifulGame Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 No 1 ranking ? :WTF: Havent we learnt nothing from our obsession with pointless rankings? Its one of the main reasons for the debacles that are happening now. We never bothered to blood youngsters against weaker teams at home when we had the chance because we wanted to preserve those meaningless rankings. And now we want to prolong the careers of seniors so that with that same excuses. How exactly u know they will play well at home considering they even collapsed against against west indies at home? No one gives a **** about rankings if u cant win away from home. For that we need to build a team with youngsters without bothering about rankings. Frankly it is embarrassing to think about being the best in the world by winning a couple of series at home when we are humiliated in England and Australia like this.
gaurav92 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 We are not looking complacent, we are looking clueless :((
Trundler27 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 According to Srikanth this team was yaabsolutely saalid..... Only if that rascal got off his marij*ana would we see any heads roll. I sincerely hope and pray for 2 things in the remainder of this test series and 1 thereafter: 1 - We show some spine and not get blanked by this 'average' aussie side (0-2 or 1-3 would suffice) 2 - Each of Dravid, Sachin, and Laxman gets 1 century each sometime during our remaining 5 innings and then respectfully retires. 1 thing thereafter - Zak becomes the full-time bowling coach for our bowlers coz I can see him working miracles with young quick bowlers due to his smarts and masterful skill and knowledge of pace bowling :hatsoff:

Trundler27 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 we have saw the Miracles he done with Sreesanth' date='Ishanth,Munaf etc[/quote'] Well you don't expect him to teach all his tricks when he is in direct competition with those fellas What if they became good enough to keep Zak out of the team?? That's why I meant after retirement perhaps.

maniac Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 We have a lot of quantity in terms of players but we definetely lack the quality to start building a new team altogether.... We don't have good fast bowling reserves.... We still haven't found a replacement to Ganguly in 3 years.... We have persisted with Bhajji for so long because we didn't have good enough spinners....Ashwin and Ojha have done well so far but I will keep my fingers crossed We don't have a good enough All-round keeper to replace Dhoni.... Decline of M.Vijay means we don't have a back up opener to Gambhir.....Mukund is still unproven.... I don't know if we need to laugh or cry but this is the best set of players available in India right now wether we like it or not....so let us just stick with them rather than complaining all the time.
Pagalpanti Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 With home season coming up. The trio should be forced into retirement. No use playing them, they'll score 100's on flat tracks but it wont solve our batting issues. We need to groom players like Tiwary, Rahane, Kohli, Rohit, Mukund.
