Guest Gunner Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 In an earlier thread (http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?p=1598568#post1598568) I mentioned that the cycle for this team is over and we will need to build a new one. It will mean some tough months and years but eventually a good solid team. I know many of you want to continue holding on to past heroes and don't want to let go but quite honestly this is the moment to start making the changes. This is not a knee jerk reaction etc, it is time to put an old racehorse down. Your thoughts please.
asterix Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 For that somoe sort of backlash is required against the BCCI goons in India.. Maybe they be seiged or heckled. Unless those goons doen't get some sort of backlash, they gonna keep on in their merry making ways..
Rightarmfast Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 How exactly do you propose to do that ? There seems to be absolutely no depth in talent across the country. We havent seen one individual who can actually lay claims to be in the team. There is absolutely no replacement for Sachin, Dravid, laxman...Heck, not even Dhoni. As far as the bowlers are concerned, the less said the better. Aaron is there but doubtful if he could deliever. Yadav seems ok...Really, I wonder where BCCI spent the money. They couldnt get one world class replacement for the current stars ??? We will have to wait for some years before some decent players come on the radar. The road ahead for Indian cricket seems really dark !
Andy Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 If You are talking about a Complete overhaul, I dont agree. This team is good enough to get the job done. But we have hardly prepared us for this Challenge. India started doing well abroad during Ganguly's Time, The main reason was One good opener and it was Sehwag who used to score runs at the top and Rahul Dravid who used to come in and do the most of the Job of playing out the New ball. But here, from the first Test apart from the First Innings we just didnt have one World Class Opener who was 100% Fit and Prepared. The Blame must go to BCCI and Team India management for Taking this series so lightly. I still remember before the SA tour most of the senior players reached SA much before the actual tour to get acclimatized to the Conditions. Our attitude needs to change more than anything.
Guest Gunner Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 What you guys are saying displays an admirable lack of foresight. This team is aged considerably and they are pretty much done. If you don't bring in 3-4 young players who will form your new core, you are done for. If we don't take the pain now we will have multiple years of agony to deal with.
gaurav92 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Yes like what the Aussies are facing right now :( Bring in Rohits and Kohlis at the test level and build the future in the next 2 years before these Legends retire.

prinzo Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Only one word to describe INDIA performance , they are CHoKING
Rajiv Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 This is farked, 3rd class performance..choking, or whatever - this is just death of Indian cricket They should hurt them by taking away the commercials money etc
Guest Gunner Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Look I know that we don't have ready made replacements for anyone. In fact RSD, VVS ,SRT and ZAK are irreplaceable. What we will need to do is identify a pool of about 6 core players who are the best in the country and stick with them for as long as it takes just like the ozzies did in the 80s. We have NO alternative.
ganeshran Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 New players need to be introduced. no two ways about that. but all seniors shouldnt be made to leave at once. Cricketers need a break.. they are not machines to be playing non stop cricket
Laaloo Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Rahane Pujara Sharma Kohli Who would be the other two?
CG Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Lol wait till match is over Sent from my GT-B7510 using Tapatalk
prinzo Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Its all about money to get noticed in the Villagers and clubs across india , there are alot of Brilliant cricketer in the towns , but unfortunatly they havent got Money to pay bribes to officials to get selected into regional teams etc
kabira Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 alright so we drop RSD, VVS and SRT...and replace it with whom. Infact above three are still scoring runs, its youngster who seem to struggle. You also have to consider these are difficult batting conditions, Even Edgaston is green for us. Laxman still has 2 years to offer, Dravid one year and Tendulkar perhaps one more year. We still haven't found replacement for Ganguly in 2 years..
ganeshran Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 India has played 11 T20s 63 ODIs and 24 test matches in the last 2 years. Add to this - 30 IPL and 10 odd Champions league matches. And this is one day of competitive cricket every three days :omg: Fitness issues are bound to creep in with such a tortuous schedule.
prinzo Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 then we only got BCCi for all of this conjested fixtures , maybe they getting cut from bookies to have alot of matches

Keep the core of GG/VS/Lax and build around that. Bring in Rahane/Pujara/Rohit/Kohli. And all of you need to get real, we are never going to find replacements for RD/VVS/SRT/Gangs, this is like the pakiz waiting for a replacement for Imran and Wasim. I know that these batting conditions are difficult but THIS is the best ****ing batting line up in the world. It can only mean that they have aged considerably. I don't consider raina a test batsman, he will never make it. You either start the process at the end of this tour or unnecessarily bear years and years of horrors.
