Changing state/city name implies - lot of changes in documents, stamps, s/w, sign boards.. and what not.... govt will pass tenders for those stuff.. everyone of them will get opportunity to pocket money. what a waste of tax-payer's money.

In our national anthem, West Bengal is called "Banga" - "Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha, Dravida,, Utkala, Banga". But I seriously don't see too much logic in clinging on to past names. Bengal was not exactly bad. Even Orissa has been changed to Odisha. Makes no sense. If the politicians want to show patriotism and want to protect our culture, there are better ways of doing it.

And in today's global scenario, naming cities/states in local languages is actually taking a step backward. Those is marketing/branding will understand that it takes years to build a brand

Since when a English sounding name is important for global scenario...Not that I support renaming cities and states, but this is rubbish I often hear. I dont think Bengaluru, Chennai or Mumbai lost its sheen globally after they are renamed.
