gaurav92 Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 That innings was brutal. Still remember the massacre at Bristol that day after Sachin got a poor decision on 99 :((
Dravid_TheWall Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 That was a good Dravid innings! Overall though, I do disagree with his selection. He was a very good ODI batsmen and still is, but I feel we have equally capable young batsmen in our team who can also attack more. In the absence of Sehwag, Gauti and Yuvi it has turned out to be a decent selection. He should bat at 3 and play Gauti's role. I don't buy the story that this was a nice way of saying farewell to Dravid in ODI's. If anything, this was a panic selection. Similar to when we recalled Laxman and Jaffer to our ODI team in South Africa few years back. But now with the injuries we have it has turned out to be ok selection.
jusarrived Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Yup , it was a Panic selection which I dont agree with .. & I dont know whay tendulkar is playing ODI's here either.
rahulrulezz Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 boss... dravid was the only saving grace in 4-0 debacle... i hope u r not just waking up.. Dude we r talking bou Odis n t20s not tests. Going by ur logic Yuvraj n Y Pathan shud be first name in Test squad jus cuz they r brilliant in T20s
rahulrulezz Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Yea he got all those 10k ODI runs in a disaster filled career. :hahaha: Yep coming at one down with average less than 40 n a strike of barely 71. Nothing to be proud off.
Number Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Dude we won't have Yuvraj . Dhoni is completely out of touch. so middle order will clearly lack experience. For that Dravid is a good inclusion. May not score quickly but can somehow help preventing collapses by holding one end.
rahulrulezz Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 lets get Yusuf Richards and Saurabh Greenidge instead of Dravid  @thread Yep. I rather have Y Pathan n S Tiway play instead off Dravid. In Safrica where ur great Dravid failed miserably not just in Tests but in Odis, Yusuf beat the butt out of Steyn, Morkel n Tsobe. Similarly I don't understand this hate against S Tiwary. The guy hasnt got out even ONCE. Has strike rate of almost 88 n infinity average. Recently in Emerging tournament, he smoked all bowlers to different areas of the park n was the highest rungetter. N we have so called Wall playing t20s n Odis ahead of these 2

For me there is no difference between 130 allot in 24 overs than 142 alloutin 49. I rather play with matchwinning players n agreesive attitude than this defensive mindset. that's why I believe our WCup squad was our bestest squad ever as we had 10 matchwinning players (sorry Nehra was $h!t) in our team
Rajiv Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Dravid in that form, in England - I see it as a good call
master22 Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Yep coming at one down with average less than 40 n a strike of barely 71. Nothing to be proud off. lol rd used to bat at no 5 for india in odis...very rarely he used to play one down...and the stats u have mentioned there is very similar to gangulys stats so according to you ganguly is not a good odi batsman as well?

Pagalpanti Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Dravid shouldn't have been picked imo, not that he wont do a good job but that he isn't a solution for India's debacle and he knew it too so he said he'll be retiring after this series, but rahul you're being quite unfair on Dravid. He has played some real good knocks in ODI's. He always anchored while India had many other hitters.
ganeshran Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Yep coming at one down with average less than 40 n a strike of barely 71. Nothing to be proud off. Dude, Dravid's stats are nowhere as bad as you make them out to be. Here is the list of batsman who have scored the most runs in positions 3,4 and 5. The standout stats are only for Sir Viv. Kallis,Inzi, Azhar's strike rates are quite comparable to RDs. Though I agree that younger blood should be tried out, so many of our players are injured that already lot of new players will get their chance. And someone needs to play the role of an anchor which dravid can very well do.

master22 Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 :fail: Looks like you only watched the end of his ODI career. post 2002 dravid mostly used to bat at no 4/5 isnt it?
Blue Panther Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Indians cant play 50 overs without dravid. I am damn sure abt it.
