Is Varun Aaron the answer?

Being English i don't know too much about this young fella, but having dug around for some news on him he seems a genuinely quicker bowler than the current lot toiling away over here. Consistently over 140k's and can reach up to 150K's is not bad at all. But looking at his FC stats his bowling average is 38.48, which is quite high no? So this is directed at anyone who has actually seen him play on TV or live, and not just in T20 as i don't think that is a good judge of players. Any insights would be interesting, action, pace, swing, bounce?? all that stuff! A proper diagnosis! Cheers

He's may not be the answer. But he could help in putting some doubts in the opposition batsmen's mind. The present bowlers have become too predictable and because of the slow pace, doesn't pose any risk to batsmen who like to charge and hit (Kyeswetter, Bell, KP, Bopara etc.). Even if Aaron plays, there will be trundlers from the other end to leak and reduce the pressure, but atleast somehting will be better than nothing. However I expect England think tank to strategise and go after Varun to blunt this attack. Since we don't have another pace alternative from the other end, nothing much can be done. I still hope Aaron and RP (due to his left arm variation) is a better option than VK & Munna..

No he has not happened 150K through errors. His One day domestic record is very good at an average of 17 and SR of 22. He consistently bowled 144K in Vijay Hazaare trophy final match which was shown live and it was only he who bowled at that pace. If there was an error that should have been for every bowler. In Devdhar trophy too he bowled consistently in 140s. In recent EPT tournament too, according to his coach, he touched 150K several times and bowled 140s Ks whole day. In IPL too, he topped at 150K. He is certainly capable of bowling as quick as Stuart Broad if not more.

You will know whenever he plays. It is just Dhoni is very conservative in giving newcomers a chance in a pressure series. If he is allowed to bowl his natural way and is fit, he will be bowling quick, certainly low to high 140s. I have seen him live in quite a few matches and he has been quick every time.

sick serani , He has clocked 140+ regularly in domestic cricket.so 153km/h was not a fluke you can watch youtube videos if you like he bowled 147 then he got to 153km/h,But he will add pace to attack allthough english bowlers have been also been hammered in the odis and shown they are medicore when the ball does not swing which has been proved time and again,

In IPL for CSK as well, he will play military medium Joginder Sharma operates in low to mid 120s who goes for runs as well every time he plays, but will not play a tall young fast medium bowler who has future potential like Sudeep Tyagi who operates in mid 130s to low 140s though on Indian pitches he believes to play 3 spinners rather than 3 fast bowlers. Until Dhoni changes his way of thinking, Aaron will probably sit outside.

Yes varun shud play ahead of alll 4 existing bowlers just on his potential as all other 4 r proving to be major failures.....vk n munaf are slow bowlers and PK is dangerous in his first spell only Ashwin is not at his best...v shd play RP PK varun n ashwin along with Jadu ahead of manoj... This vl mean 5 bowlers with jadu being the 5th bowler. I bet india will win then, though manoj was in full form in scoring 11 runs

If Aaron is really a 150k bowler Dhoni has to be the most defensive captain. How can you keep a 150k bowler out of the team and play likes of Munaf,Praveen,Vinay Kumar and RP singh.I hope he lives upto the hype because world really needs genuinely quick bowlers it is a very rare breed

Maybe English or neutrals won't be very excited about him because he will not be another Lee or Akhtar but he will be faster than our trundlers like vinay kumar that's for sure, hopefully he doesn't follow the same way as munaf patel and become a trundler as well. I am gonna kick dhoni's ass if varun doesn't get a game

From what I've heard and seen he hasn't got much except a little pace
