Jersey #10 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Problem with Indians in general: 1. Not into fitness training the way Auzzies English etc are. This is most obviously reflected in the fielding. 2. Diet - yes this is key - just look at Indian origin people in Canada UK etc they are way bigger cause of a western diet. Better quality food, supplements more readily available etc are available in Western countries. 3. Why is it that they are never injured for IPL or healed JUST IN TIME for champions league? you can be 60% fit and be able to last 20 overs. One has to be fully fit for tests and ODIs. common sense? also the amount of money plays a part in it too It's not like there have not been injuries in IPL To name a few... Sachin Zak Sehwag get your stats right
Lurker Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Cut this beef crap... effin pisses me off when I see fellow Indians use this lahori logic of 'beef is the strongest'... as Lurker said if one eats balanced diet (even vegeterian), you can be bloody strong in everythin... biggest reason we dont have fast bowlers is the mentatlity of Indians towards pace bowling.. This season I played for a new club, I am not only the the opening batsman but also opening pace bowler as well.. and my effin captain(typical Indian) before even I start my over shouts loudly 'Rahul don't concentrate on pace, u might bowl wides)..everytime he says this in front of opposition batsman, I feel like punchin him and try to bowl even faster... even though I have taken higest amount of wickets (19 in 8 matches) with best economy, still that bugger insults me even if I bowl even one wide....and the Pakistani teams I have played against, their captains have always came upto me at the end of match and appreciated my pace...its just a Indian thing, we just dont appreciate pure pace Right on. We dont cut our bowlers loose, even in club games and then cover that nonsense with a even worse, "We dont need fast bowlers, Mcgrath wasnt fast"...Duh Praveen Kumar is no Mcgrath... Protein is under-valued as part of a healthy, balanced diet mostly due to the prevailing food culture that hasn't changed even though urban lifestyles have altered our requirements considerably. The Indian diet is essentially a peasant diet Quite true. Kinda tired of hearing Indians how they have yogurt, rajma, eggs etc to cover their protein when their diet would probably get them 1/10th of whats required. The issue isnt about everyone starting to eat meat, but to understand the value of diet. Sportsmen wont do it simply because you and I expect them to. If anything extra fanfare makes them prima donna as is.

However beans and egg whites make for a perfectly adequate morning dose of proteins (roughly 30g), add some greens and you're set.
Tiger80 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I think its not just diet.. most Indians these days aren't vegetarians and most people I know eat chicken' date='beef and everything else. There is more to it than just diet[/quote'] Which country you are talking about? Beef and Pork are still not easily available in India.Much of the beef available is of Buffalo and that meat is only available in muslim area's
Dravid_TheWall Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Indian players don't have the committment and desire to bowl fast regularly. It requires you to look after your body and 100% energy used in bowling. The whole beef thing is a joke that Pakistani's use against Indians. Anyone who believes it is an idiot. Beef is banned in most states anyway.
Lord Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 only Bhajji has a balanced diet it seems.his deliveries r phaast

Beef theory may not be true but it is fact that majority of Indian children lack protein in their growth age Which is very important if you want to become Athlete
CSK Fan Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Beef theory may not be true but it is fact that majority of Indian children lack protein in their growth age Which is very important if you want to become Athlete How do you explain then, than apart from cricket, in most other sports like wrestling, running, soccer, hockey, boxing, all of which arguably require more stamina and strength than cricket, we always top our meat eating neighbors from the west?

Thats our strategy going to be? Comparing our sporting success to Pakistan? How about we look at the neighbor to the South? With the size and population, SL seems to be kicking our butt in sporting arena. Should make you happy I suppose. This is the typical cynical response I was hinting at. Lets act as ignorant folks and start going after Pakistan which is perhaps the worst sporting country in the world. Use that as a benchmark and we come out smelling like roses. Hey look we got only 2 Olympic medals but Pakis got none, and they eat meat hahahahahaha. Duh!
Yoda-esque Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 There is a reason why i ask my juniors to eat meat beef. Beef is a rich resource for testosterone. I have discussed these things already, i am a kashmiri pundit but i dont care much when it comes to my health. I eat beef, oyesters, sea food every day and workout in gym and in my local cricket ground with my juniors every day. This has made me really healthy and popular with boys and girls in my office. I suggest u guys do the same. Eat beef, or oyesters everyday. Oysters are known to act as Aphrodisiacs...probably explains why you are this way :giggle:

I will just repeat, clearly meat is not the only factor(or a big factor) in sporting excellence or else A country like Pakistan would have an edge over India in every sporting event which is not the case. So making a direct sporting comparison based on how much meat someone eats is pointless
Yoda-esque Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Definitely they are atheletes and need to hit the gym and do a lot of cardio.I was shocked when I heard Bhajji say that he doesnt believe in it! I mean you guys are supposed to be the best atheletes, aren't ya?!!Previously, perhaps, fitness didnt matter in cricket, but not anymore.Cricketers are getting bigger, faster and stronger and every small advantage translates into an even bigger one against good teams. And of course , diet is important..very important..Actually, cricketers should build their bodies like tennis players and not boxers since their movements are sudden and explosive and they arent moving all the time.So lots of carbs for energy, protein rich too.Bowlers need to build muscle but not too much where they start getting tired carrying it whereas batsmen need upper body strength and a strong core.Functional exercises need to be focussed upon.Lean cuts of beef are good for you, lots of fish, chicken, eggs and milk are ideal to build muscle. Also for carbs, they should be eating whole grain pasta (no cream sauce),whole breads for energy and bananas for quick carbs .

That frankly is stupid way to go about it. Which sane person argues that only meat will make you an Olympic champ? What is being argued here is a well balanced diet and the importance of meat can not be understated there. Lets appreciate that instead of getting weirdly defensive about it

gs Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 If beef is untouchable due to religious sensitivities, I'd imagine it can easily be substituted with lamb or pork. So for an Indian cricketer of this day and age, there should really be no excuses for eating right and working out to stay fit. Its their bloody job afterall.
