ganeshran Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Is there any update on Pujara's injury? Will he be fit for the Australia tour. If not, who do you think should play in the all important number 6 position. I would go for Rohit Sharma (if fit by then) else Kohli.
Ramzz Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Not Kohli...he is a fisherman outside his off stump. Needs to work on that aspect of his game first. Pujara will need time to get back into the groove after a long lay off...probably yuvi might return...I know...not the best choice.
saneindian Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Likely to be Yuvraj Singh. Will most certainly do well vs WI at home and will be a certainity at least in the first 2 tests in Australia.
gs Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 This is probably the best chance Yuvraj will ever get to do well against the Australians.
ganeshran Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Yuvi isnt really the future when it comes to Test cricket. We already have three veterans in the side. I would prefer for a younger guy at number 6. Of course Pujara is the best option but there is still no clear news on his injury.
punjabi_khota Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 No UV please I know what he did in last OZ tour :wall:
WC2011INDIA Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Ajinkya Rahane This, if Pujara is not well.
ganeshran Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Ajinkya Rahane Sunny, Rahane isnt a number 6 batsman in FC. He mostly bats up the order - opening or 1 down.
Crookbond Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Sunny' date=' Rahane isnt a number 6 batsman in FC. He mostly bats up the order - opening or 1 down.[/quote'] Neither was Sehwag an opening batsman. But, Rahane and Pujara look on course for Test careers. I would like to believe Virat Kohli would soon be knocking but again does he have the temperament to tighten his game on bouncy wickets?
Pagalpanti Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Ideally it should be Rahane but I'm sure selectors will go for experience. Yuvraj/Raina/Kohli/Rohit/Rahane. Anyways the real worry is bowling, we really need Zaheer and Ishant fit for this tour, Zaheer will just recover ahead of the tour and Ishant is going in with an ankle injury. Not good signs, if there is another goof up it'll be embarrassing.
Andrew Peter Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Anyone among Sharma / Pujara. Pujara has proper technique to succeed as a Test Batsman and Sharma did well against Austarlia in the last CB Odi Series . I dont understand why some fans still want Yuvraj to be a part of the Test squad once again inspite of clear signs that he isnt a Test Material . Yuvraj will be a walking wicket on Australian pitches in Test Matches and after the 4th wicket falls in form of Laxman we will be 6 down in no time with Batsmen like Yuvi & Dhoni to follow after which you add 15-20 runs to the total with Pk, Bhajji, Zak, Ishant to follow
Cricket Tragic Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Yuvraj averaged 4 on the last tour of Australia.
Rahul Dravid Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 this is gonna be a tough choice.. really depends on who is in form at that time i guess...
gaurav92 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Should be Rahane, but if Yuvi do well against Windies, he will get the nod
rkt.india Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Sunny' date=' Rahane isnt a number 6 batsman in FC. He mostly bats up the order - opening or 1 down.[/quote'] Dravid and tendullkar too started batting at 6 in test cricket.
vamos_rafa Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 If Pujara is not fit, then by all means it should be Rahane. He is the only 1 who seems to be being technically adept. Kohli needs to tighten up his technique a little bit. Having said that, we also need to see how does Rahane perform on the Test arena. He played a lot across the line to my liking in such swinging conditions.
Sachin=GOD Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Pujara. If he's not fit then Raina/Rahane.
