In the Irani trophy this year both Aaron and Yadav were clocking 130-135, while Vinay kumar was in the 120-125 range. We know these guys are quicker...or is it they were bowling slower due to pitch conditions. Maybe we need to add 5K to domestic competition speed guns.

Maybe we need to add 5K to domestic competition speed guns.[/quote'] It is very hard to say, may be 4-5k slower or bowlers did not try to bowl fast. Both can be the cases. While RP and Bhuvenshwar were bowling at their normal pace.

Abu Nechim, Shami Ahmed, FAIZAL DHUDHAT, Anwar Ahmed, Rahul Shukla ....so many guys with potential. Add Gony and Pawan Suyal ( both now injuired) and we know there is some real good potential. Sudeep Tyagi has come back from injury and should be fully fit soon. Yo Mahesh of TN was such a talent, but for some reasons he has dropped pace considerably. Its not that they should be immediatly selected for the Indian team..But BCCI should shortlist all the 135K+ bowlers, hire a good fast bowling consultant and work on these guys. It is so sad to see the richest board not being pro-active at all, especially since our stock is so limited. I am sure if the board starts paying attention and a few of them make it to the Indian team, it will inspire more youngsters to take up fast bowling. Now the role models for youngsters are either batsmen or slow medium bowlers.

There is something wrong with the domestic cricket speed guns. In some matches they show correct speeds, in some they seem 5 k slower and occasionally even 10 k slower. Unless they are corrected the true speeds of up and coming pacers cannot be gauged properly. The experienced and international bowlers may sometimes bowl with much less effort in domestic cricket but i don't think that a 130 k to 140 k bowler will go down to 110 k to 120 k range, even with lesser effort, as we have sometimes seen some pacers do.

More than speeds, even we can identify it by naked eyes if some one is quick or not.

They are not always slower but in some matched they definitely are slower. I am all for gauging whether a bowler looks quick or not. Especially because the speed gun gives no indication of the " speed off the pitch ", which is the more relevant speed as that is what the batsman has to face and play. Problem is, in this day and age of complete reliance on speed guns, a quick bowler like Dudhat may be ignored if, in a critical match which the selectors are watching, the speed gun is clocking lower speeds and he is ignored as a medium pacer.

No, he is not ignored. Rayudu was in EPT team.

I find it hard to believe that the selectors did not consider him good enough for the Challenger Trophy even ? Our pool of new fast bowlers under watch should include Nechim, Shami Ahmed, Shukla, Suyal, Dudhat, Anwar, Tyagi, Gony etc.

Its broadcaster's commitments to give correct knowledge to the viewers atleast in this regard. Just like if rain comes, they have to keep updating their viewers when the match is going to start again. They won't gain or lose anything by showing wrong speeds. Speed guns are doing their work. Technology is not there to give you wrong info
