Manny_Pacquiao Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 giving a double hundred to a paki batsman, wow...this is a new low for mother lanka. but if the pakis can make 500+ then surely the pitch must be a highway that even a blind paraplegic could score runs on, are we looking at a draw here?

Manny_Pacquiao Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 wow, what has happened to them they can't bat, they can't bowl...they are probably worse than the west indies right now.
Laaloo Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Don't be too hard on them. They probably still can't forget the beating they took on this day 7,000 years ago.
BeautifulGame Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 In that one move of replacing Dilshan with Samaraweera in middle order they have weakened their top order as well as middle order. Playing Dilshan in middle order by replacing Samaraweera is never gone work.He dont have the patiance to build innings when team is under pressure same reason why he was a failure earlier in his career in that position.
ganeshran Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 They left out a flat track bully on a flat track. :dontknow:
jairamesh Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Two words: Thilan Samaraweera!!!! Since dropping him, SL's batting line-up have struggled, especially in 1st innings. Sometimes dropping based on age discrimination needs to be put in perspective when a player averages 50+ over last few seasons.

I guess selectors thought Sanga and Mahela will steady the ship but Mahela hasnt showed up yet
jairamesh Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I guess selectors thought Sanga and Mahela will steady the ship but Mahela hasnt showed up yet True, but I thought it was reckless to continue dropping Samaraweera, after a decent series in England. Dilshan can't not play the Samaraweera role, which I think is unique that he brings that grittiness in the late order if Dilshan, Sanga, Mahela fail (which is by the way has been one too many lately). Basically Samaraweera has being doing a Dhoni for SL over recent years but obviously in a different angle.
PenPaperSports Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I couldn't agree more - There seems to have been a focus on elite cricket in SL and not on the development of younger players. Australia have done this in recent times and are probably paying for it now too.
MCcricket Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Right now I do not see any promising players or talent in this team , Sanga, Dilshan, are the only world class players, Jaywardena is a pretender , only plays at home , never scores much against world class opposition.Murali, Malinga, Vaas, Aravinda, Jayasurya, Attapattu , they haven't found replacements, cricket board is corrupt. I hear the selections are very biased too, they were tigers at home , now not even good at home, believe me talk to any Sri Lankan supporter or commentator and they will make u believe they are by far the best team on this planet. They were at their best under Ranatunga but did not win much abroad.

MCcricket Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Dilshan world class? :hysterical: This in comparision with the other players, not other teams, that was an allowance

He is a very good player, MUCH better than Dilshan.
ganeshran Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Jaya is in poor form, but he is a great player, second only to Sanga in the team
Number Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Mahela is as good as Dhoni outside subcontinent as a test batsman.
