If we are looking at a better spinner, he's already there.. Ashwin. Ojha is a good Left arm spinner. I have high hoped from Rahul Sharma in the legspin department as I've seen enough of those to midgets Mishra and Chawla..Would prefer tall and high arm action of Rahul Sharma.. Anybody remembers Taufiq Ahmad and his 90 degrees turning off spinners? Wish we have somebody like him..an orthodox off spinner..

darty has the best attitude of any cricketer from among our veterans (fighting spirit, aggression, ability to slap naughty kids)... BUT his ability to lead our spin attack has been found wanting right since jumbo retired. So we can keep him as a back-up option but i know this is not going to happen bcoz once the selectors pick him, dhoni jee will do the rest. So with a lot of sadness i have to agree that darty should be kept out of the team in order to develop the next wave of our spinning monsters.

Our batting has sucked the past 2 test series. They might pick bhajji just for his batting. Maybe picking yuvi as a specialist spinner wouldnt be such a bad idea.

Get under whose skin? The current Aussie team is vastly different to the one faced on the last tour. Don't think they really care whether Darty plays or not. And just cannot pick players based on ancient history and whether he somehow riles the opposition. Current performances and form are much more important. Everybody saw what picking RP Singh based on past history in Eng achieved.
I guess Harbhajan still tops the list if you take that as criteria. A1kYR.jpg I don't think Ojha is bad, but bowling in a county where their players suck against spin and bowling in International matches is a whole different story, about Mishra well I guess you must've watched him in the England tour. Harbhajan though out of form has had few match winning performances, match saving as well with both bat and ball, So he shouldn't be discarded totally yet IMO. Given we don't have anyone better than him anyway.

We will have to wait till we pass a verdict on Ashwin, especially in Test matches.

His batting really saved his career to some extent. His performance in WI was particularly unimpressive. Pitch was assisting spinners. He will have his moments. But that will be rare. With lack of resources in pace bowling department India depends on their spinners to get wickets. Bhajji is not providing it. India will have to try other options even if there is nobody significantly outstanding at this point.

Why as a test option? That is where he sucks most. In ODI, T20 he can at least keep it tight and slog with the bat. Although, even in limited formats, ashwin has taken over as no1 spinner. Ojha and Bhajji are on a par in limited overs. For tests, time to try out ashwin and reintroduce ojha, bhajji is finished unless he gets his wicket taking ability back.

That's not what the numbers suggests. I feel he fares badly in Tests due to excessive defensive bowling in limited over games like ODIs and T20s. Moreover, we have decent options like Ashwin in ODIs. We need to do to him what Ganguly did to Kumble. At certain times in ODIs, he played Harbhajan ahead of Kumble.
