Trichromatic Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Another thread to bash Harby. The guy's bowling has been poor and he needs to improve but this constant bashing is not required. Let's not forget that he had been brilliant for us in the past - you'd think that he has been India's worst ever player reading some of the rubbish over the past few months on ICF. +1 Anyways, he should have been selected for ODIs. He was doing fine in shorter version. He bowled so many overs and didn't give too many runs. However he fails to take wickets in middle overs, which directly affect other bowlers in death overs. Only 1 5fer for Indian bowlers in last 12 months, that too by Yuvi. Tells you the story of flat tracks and condition of bowling.

Hoping Bhajji gives his best & re-learn his art & makes a comeback strongly. But tbh...he has been guranteed his spot for a long time without much performance to back.
Sid Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Bhajji the kaptaan ,on his way to win second title in just one week .Next target should be Ranji Trophy for Punjab :winky: Very happy to see how Bhajji has bowled in the last 3 matches and today,was the highest scorer for his team as well :hatsoff:.Hope Bhajji still plays domestic cricket before being picked for intl. cricket again,I can see the improvement already.

He seems to be doing something about it and I am honestly feeling good with the way he has performed both as a captain and as a bowler in the CL and the Challenger series. He has been leading from the front and that is a good sign. Hopefully he will be around to screw the Aussies later this year and early next
VRV Singh Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I think we all know dropping him for ODIs is a confused policy. He wasn't doing a bad job. He slotted in well with the general defensive tactics we have been somewhat forced to adopt with the paucity of wicket-taking bowlers. I find it very hard to believe he wasn't doing what was asked of him. Test matches are a different story.

Sehwag said Harbhajan, who has been dropped from the team for the first two ODIs against England starting on Friday, will have to sweat it out in the domestic circuit to get his mojo back. "He (Harbhajan) is a champion bowler and I have no doubt he will stage a comeback. He is playing in the Challenger series in Nagpur. He has to work hard in domestic cricket," Sehwag said. "I remember when I was dropped from the team in 2007. I played domestic cricket and worked my way back into the team. That is the only way to do it. It is just a matter of time and Harbhajan will be back," he said. Still recuperating from a shoulder injury that flared up during the Test series in England, Sehwag is eyeing next month's West Indies' tour of India for making a comeback into the national team. Sehwag played the last two Tests in England - at Birmingham and the Oval - before seeking permission for rest and rehabilitation because of the shoulder injury as well as a hearing problem. "Well, I am doing fine. I have come to the NCA and the rehabilitation is going on well,". Asked about his comeback into the Indian team, Sehwag said, "I don't want to put a time frame. I am working hard to stage a comeback into the team. I am targeting the West Indies series." The injury also forced Sehwag, who has had two operations on his shoulder and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, to miss the entire ODI series in England. The West Indies is scheduled to play three Tests in India starting November 6 at Delhi's Ferozeshah Kotla stadium followed by a five-match ODI series, the dates of which are yet to be announced. During his off-time from the game, Sehwag fulfilled his father's long-cherished dream by launching his integrated sports academy in Shilani Kesho village in Haryana's Jhajjar district last Sunday. The cricketer was accompanied by his mother Krishna and wife Aarti for the inauguration of the international standard cricket academy. "It was my father's dream and I have now fulfilled it. My father always wanted me to open an academy for children so that they could benefit from it. It was an idea I had for the last five years or so," Sehwag said. "I am grateful to all that the school has come up in Jhajjar. I am grateful to Haryana chief minister for giving me the land. Right now my target is to provide good facilities and environment." Sehwag's Krishna Drishti Educational Society was given over 23 acres in Jhajjar's Shilani Kesho village in October 2008 on a 33-year lease by the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government for a sports complex at Rs. 3 lakh per acre to promote the interest of the residents of the city in the game of cricket. Sehwag also said that he has big plans for the trainees and intends to invite his India teammates to the academy in future. "That is my plan (invite teammates). Whenever India is playing in Delhi, I will try and take some of my teammates to my academy. They can have a chat with the boys. It will be a big motivation and inspiration for them," Sehwag said. "In the future, the academy team can also go for some overseas tours for exposure. But these are plans, right now my focus is to give the best facilities and environment," the swashbuckling batsman said. He, however, refused to react to ICC's U-turn from its earlier decision of making the controverial Decision Review System mandatory. "It is a decision taken by the ICC. I don't want to comment," Sehwag said. The Harbhajan Singh-led Mumbai Indians won the Nokia Champions League Twenty20 against all odds, and in the Challenger Trophy his side finished joint-winners. However, his perceived below-par performances against the West Indies and the injury sustained during the tour of England, saw India's selectors drop him for the first two ODIs of the on-going series against the English on Indian shores. The leading off-spinner seems surprised, more than hurt, at not being considered. "I don't think anything went wrong in the West Indies," Harbhajan declared. "In three Tests, I took 11 wickets and it would have been satisfying if I had a few more. In the Test match that we won, there was a decent contribution from me with the bat. In the ODIs too, I bowled pretty well. And in England, I hardly bowled. There's not much I can do about injuries." "In 2007 as well, I made a good comeback. As and when the national door opens for me again, I will be up for it," he added. When asked if he felt hurt when people questioned his level of commitment, the Turbanator said: "Yes, it does hurt. I'm a player who always gives his 100%. I don't ever take a backward step and it's really disappointing when somebody points a finger. Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag recently said that Harbhajan is a match-winner and it's only a matter of time before he staged a strong return into the Indian fold. Harbhajan said he feels lucky at such votes of confidence. "Of course. I'm lucky to have such seniors around me who have helped me all my life. It's their belief in me that makes me all the more committed to come back stronger," an emotional Bhajji said. Harbhajan was regarded as the number-one spinner in the world for some time. Even though England's Graeme Swann has beaten him to that coveted spot. Bhajji is unruffled. He said: "If I didn't believe in myself, I wouldn't have been playing cricket. And about Swann, well, he has done very well in recent times but he still has a long way to go. Swann only has had only two years of international cricket and it's always easy to do well in the initial phases. The real test begins in the second part and I wish him all the luck for the future." Harbhajan was also full of praise for R Ashwin, who is playing as the leading spinner in the series against England.
