skindia Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Where is uthappa and what parthiv patel ,badrinath, murali vijay doing in list despite failure?
Karan114 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Funny how Abhinav Mukund has completely disappeared after showing some good signs in very tough conditions in WI and England (didn't score many runs but didn't look out of place either). Not in the Test squad and not even worth a C contract, apparently. On the other hand, this Rahul Sharma guy gets one even without playing a single game for India!

Unadkat :omg: Yusuf Pathan not being there is another surprise.
Texy Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 ridiculous ...how does Rahul Sharma get a contract w/o playing a match??? is this a joke? No contract for Pathan but contract for Unadkat??? wtff???
achilles Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Some shocking decisions- 1. Nehra thrown out, while Ishant Sharma is Grade A 2. Rohit Sharma is Grade B, Vijay has a contract and Yusuf doesn't get a contract. 3. Umesh, Aaron, Rahul Sharma and Shikhar are suddenly good enough to have a contract. 4. Ashwin is suddenly good enough to be Grade B and shares the level with Praveen Kumar. 5. Why are Chawla and Unadkat up for contracts? 6. Mithun and Vinay (I don't know what strings) have a contract.

That top one is shocking. Ishant isn't a reglular in ODI or t20 and hasn't done that well in tests overall (bar a crap WI team and spell down under) yet he has a grade A contract. Nehra has been an integral member of ODI team for last few years since his recall, his spell v Pak took us to final. Hmm I guess what Srikant is saying with this contract business is we are selecting the ones for the future. But it shouldn't be that way. You should look at a current players value to the team. If there was a world cup tomorrow nehra would be in the squad for sure. This is like the Katich fiasco. Mukund deserved a contract of some sort. Also Bhajji at grade A :hysterical:

Compare Chawla and Yusuf Pathan. Pathan won 2-3 games for us last year. Can't recall Chawla's recent performance. I would select Pathan over Chawla in ODI team anyday. None of them are good enough for tests. Chawla was selected randomly for WC also. Rahul Sharma hasn't played a match yet. Mithun and Unadkat - wth Nehra contributed in WC SF win.

Yeah, I really hope its a case of seeing some sort of hidden potential in Sharma. Otherwise, we're seeing a bowler who has no pedigree in FC cricket getting promoted to the Test team on the back of one good IPL season - which is even worse than the Gony case, where he was at least only selected for the ODI rather than Test team.
Sidhoni Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Even Munaf did well in WC, could have been in Grade B Rahul Sharma :facepalm: Why no Nehra?
Pagalpanti Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Not that it matters to them financially but Top contract should be given to players who are performing well in tests as well, to get Kohli and Yuvraj there is just not right. Again I don't see what Rohit has done apart from an odd good series in WI to deserve the jump. Some really undeserving guys in grade 3. Vinay, Unadkat.
Trichromatic Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Even Munaf did well in WC, could have been in Grade 8 Rahul Sharma :facepalm: Why no Nehra? How Mithun's and Munaf's contributions are same? This is ultimate rubbish from BCCI.
Trundler27 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Yea the contract list is a joke tbh...... more than half of the grade A cricketers do NOT play even 50% of India's international matches during the year. They either take a 'rest', get 'injured', or are 'rotated'. Bloody nonsense. And v ko-maar and unadkat in grade C? .... they should have gotten grade A contracts based on their sterling talent. On the bright side, at least a few of the grade C cricketers have genuine potential to shine at the international level.
Feed Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Faux-pas: BCCI forget to include Mukund's name in contract list! More... Faux-pas: BCCI forget to include Mukund's name in contract list! October 29, 2011 In a major goof-up, the BCCI on Saturday forgot to mention batsman Abhinav Mukund's name in its contracted list of cricketers. The Board subsequently sent out a statement saying that Mukund's name features in Grade C, which also has S Sreesanth, Amit Mishra, Munaf Patel and Cheteshwar Pujara among others. "Abhinav Mukund's name was missing from the list of the players contracted by the BCCI for the 2011-12 season. Mukund is in Grade C," BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale said in a statement. The BCCI had announced the list at its working committee meeting, held in Kolkata earlier on Saturday.
