Robelinda Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Geez the pitches weren't that bowler friendly. Bowling and batting and fielding was woeful all round though.
vamos_rafa Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 No problem was our bowlers could not stop them scoring 500-600 runs on some of the most bowler friendly tracks. Teams do not score in excess of 600 runs in England. Our batsmen did not score much, but credit to their bowling and some times bad shots by batsmen and then injuries to SRT and Gambhir at the important juncture of the match. You cannot let the opposition score 500-600 on a seaming track and expect batsmen to do an impossible task against a bowling which is having a purple patch. Finally I found some support on ICF for something I have been saying for so long :two_thumbs_up:
rkt.india Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Geez the pitches weren't that bowler friendly. Bowling and batting and fielding was woeful all round though. I don't know but whenever England bowled they made the ball talk, swung it, seamed it, bounced it and never let Indian batsmen settle down, while whenever Indian bowlers bowled there were runs on offer, no swing, no seam. Quality of bowling always makes a huge difference not only on the field, but in the batsmen's mind as well. I will say the same about your bowlers who bowled poorly in the last home Ashes and England scored huge runs and let Cook scored 700 runs over 5 tests while Cook is not that good a batsman as he has made out to be and has huge weakness against full pitched swinging in and out deliveries of getting bowled, LBW, and caught behind, but your bowlers bowled him short and he feasted on that..
Robelinda Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Yes, even if the pitch is assisting the bowlers it doesn't mean a less skifull bowler will achieve the same results as a better bowler. England have been bowling great for the last few years, all of them can swing it, our bowlers can't swing it a millimetre.
vamos_rafa Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Geez the pitches weren't that bowler friendly. Bowling and batting and fielding was woeful all round though. Fielding yes, we had dropped many a sitters. Batting because some of the batters like Laxman just could not get going. Sachin was surprisingly playing "loose" shots outside off stump. He was looking good in atleast 5 innings out of the 8 we played but could not get going. Gambhir was getting injured. Dravid was superb. Raina and MS were not good enough. But to put things really in perspective, did you follow the india-SA test series in 2006-07? That was by some degree a series like this. Noone from India scored huge 100's. Sachin scored 2 60's and 1 40. MS,Ganguly, they all did well in patches. But it was because of Zak and Sree and Kumble that we stayed in the hunt till the end. We floundered our chances of wining then. The point I am trying to make is, our batting is good enough to pull us out from such desperate situations if our bowlers can keep us at par with the opposition.
rkt.india Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Yes' date=' even if the pitch is assisting the bowlers it doesn't mean a less skifull bowler will achieve the same results as a better bowler. England have been bowling great for the last few years, all of them can swing it, our bowlers can't swing it a millimetre.[/quote'] This happened to our bowlers too. The difference was consistency and difference of pace with which Stuart Broad and Bresnan were rattling our batsmen with swing as well as bounce. Our best bowler was PK who was too slow to be an impact and then Ishant who was our fastest bowler but is not one whose bowling style suits English pitches and in other words is very much one dimensional in terms of moving the ball which has not helped him and his angle helped batsmen to easily work him through leg side. Sreesanth blows more cold and less hot more often than not and looked unfit to sustain good pace.

I always say this that your fast bowlers decide the fate of your team most often than not. Better fast bowling unit with a good batting line can do wonders.
Rightarmfast Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I feel a better bowling performance gives the batters that mental edge too. If your bowlers torment the opposition, the whole team is in an upbeat mood. whereas, with a bowling performance as poor as India's in England, the whole mood would go down. You cant expect eh batters to try to fight it out each and every time.

TheYuvi02 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Can India make history? No team from Asia has ever won a series in South Africa or Australia, can India be the first one to do it next series in Australia starting in December? I think we should be able to easily beat this weak Australian team, the 4-0 loss against England was a fluke, if India was to play England in England right now we would win the test series. Hoping for a whitewash against Australia.

Hoping for a whitewash against Australia. Not so sure if right now. But if Yadav and Aaron become good bowlers in the next 1 year or so. And our entire team is fit and have prepared for 2-3 weeks in advance then easily. Also Pujara/Rohit Sharma in 6 down.
deathmonger Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Truth be told, theoretically this is India's best bowling line up. Ishant rediscovering his bite, A fit Zak. (Remember what these two did in 2008). If Ashwin and one of, if not both Yadav and Aaron step their game up then a very good chance. Because most of the time we have suffered due to useless 3rd seamer (mostly Sree) and our spinner (Mishra,Darty etc). Also Ishant losing pace in 2009.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 india were better than australia in 3 of the 4 test matches in the 2008 tour, the only thing that denied india a series win was the umpiring. the umpiring will once again be crucial - australia have benefited greatly from favourable umpiring in many of their wins against india. with india still in denial mode with regard to UDRS, i am expecting this trend to continue. people are skeptical of the bowling attack, but in reality, a lineup of ishant sharma, one of either umesh/aaron, praveen kumar and ojha is good enough to challenge australia's new look batting lineup.

We seriously don't know anything about these 2 bowlers. So, how could you say that this is our best bowling line-up?? Infact, the attack that toured the last time was much more superior. Zak was fit when he went in, a fully potent RP Singh, he was as good as any other bowler and ofocurse Kumble. We are thrusting a lot of hope on newbies, let then prove a few things first.

Hussey is in the form of his life. Clarke, since taking over captaicny looks determined to do well. You can never write off Ponting. That's a pretty solid middle order and not new look for sure.

Manny_Pacquiao Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 they have 3 new batsmen in hughes, marsh and karhwahjjha.

Tendulkar Mark II is killer. You can never write off Gambo.

Let's just wait and watch their prowess. Prospectively, we can think so many things, but when we actually see something happening, then we would come to know the reality. Having said that, I would love to see him and Aaron do well. All that I am trying to say is, we need to wait and watch.
