Blue Panther Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 .....Ok perhaps I'm being deliberately controversial with the the title of the thread Leaving aside the 4 gentlemen who have been jailed just for the moment it is obvious that cricket has potentially a massive problem with match / spot fixing. The ICC needs to get to the root cause of it to remove it completely from the game. Now in almost every betting scandal in cricket the roads always lead to Pakistani players. Therefore it would seem that Pakistan needs to get its house in order to prevent this happening again. Whether that means it banning the fixers or adopts a zero tolerance approach to cracking down on it is up to them. Until it does then surely this problem will continue. I hope people know me well enough over the years to trust that I am not trying to rabble rouse anti-Pakistani feelings. Nor am I trying to shift any of the blame from the indian bookies and Majeed. Just trying to explore how we can prevent this happening again. Given the relatively light sentences dished out. As with any illegal operation the police should be interested in catching the big fish. So as an ultimate sanction should teams refuse to play pakistan untill pcb acts? Of course given the financial power of Pakistani cricket we know this can happen if BCCI wants, but if the ICC was truely independent it would put pressure on the PCB to fight against pakistani players just a little bit harder By Bacteria....

If someone has created a stupid thread elsewhere, go take them on their board why takeout your frustration here? And if its a serious question indeed, answer is NO. Cricket as it is played by just 7-8 test nations, don't want to see a major test nation not being there especially with the decline of WI and NZ.

Just because 4 people are caught you cannot take away their Cricketing Status. Just Rubbish. We weren't less enough in controversies. Remember the 2000 saga. There were more people who were given very less punishment. And still today these guys enjoy a celebrity status.
