Ishant is the only future we have atm. He has the tools, we just have to nurture it. Look at Anderson, back 4 yrs we all thought he was some mid 130kph trundler. Now hes matured and has experience and is one of the best atm going around.
We have been hearing this from 2007 that Ishant is future but when he is going to become present? Compare him with Struat broad who was mentally destroyed by Yuvraj yet he is now premiur fast bowler of world

Don't forget that in first two tests in England, Ishant and PK had just one more bowler to support them and another frontline bowler didn't bowl at all. How quickly we forget things!! Just two bowlers can never bowl an inform batting team out, especially when your fielding side regulary drops 3-4 catches per innings!! In such circumstances, instead of appreciating the lion-hearted effort from these two young seamers, you are blaming them?

who decides his surgery can wait after OZ series..agreed series is Impoartnat,But we cant ignore that bowlers can easily injured Mid test match and cuase trouble.. unlike England bowling in OZ is not easy...OZ pitches now become almost Flat..also he is not a Unknown qty to them unlike last series there.. however importnat Ishanth is as a professional outfit we no longer Repeat Zak like incidents .

The lay off is a long time. For Australia series its worth it. Thats where he found his success and return to it later this yr.

Tad overconfident are we ? Avg of 58 & SR of 94 in England and looking forward to the ticket to Australia ? Am i the only one who: a) Doesn't think this lad's a certainty for Australia tour b) Doesn't want anything close to a bowler limping off the field in the middle of a test match, there's 4 of them ?

Ravi Shastri and Wasim Akram on air about this issue, both were of the opinion that he just cannot survive there on rock hard wickets and will aggravate more if he goes semi fit:((

You are slated to receive the Polly Umrigar Award, IndiaÃÔ cricketÃÔ top honour, in December... IÃÎ touched, for itÃÔ truly a great honour. As a sportsman, you toil everyday to stay fit and deliver at the top. You feel nice that your efforts have been recognised. It makes you push yourself that much harder. WhatÃÔ the update on your rehab after the injury in England? IÃÅ been working extremely hard at the National Cricket Academy. I want to get my core muscles stronger. ItÃÔ so unfortunate that I hurt my ankle in England; I could feel the strain on landing at the crease. But I felt extremely good about my bowling in the domestic Twenty20 matches (for Delhi, see box). I thought I was getting somewhere close to my best. Viru bhai (Virender Sehwag), too, played these matches. He kept egging me on; it was so much fun training with him and spending time together. You said you might undergo an ankle surgery only after the tour of Australia next year. Is it too much of a risk given that youÃ×e a long season ahead? ItÃÔ not that I feel the need for a surgery at the moment. If the surgery was necessary, I wouldnÃÕ have waited. IÃÎ not the one who takes the body casually. IÃ×e responded well to my rehab and IÃÎ absolutely ready to cope with the rigours of a long season. In a certain context, you said youÃÅ never be a swing bowler. Will you always hold that view? I accept that I will never be a swing bowler. Bounce will always be my strength. IÃÎ primarily a seam bowler who hits the deck hard and gets the ball to rear up. When you are playing at the top level, you need to know what you are good at. ThereÃÔ no point being what you are not, for then, you forget why youÃÓe here in the first place.

Need him at his best in test matches now. Also time for him to get that bowling average below 30. He is capable of doing that and is now reaching the right time in his international career to start bettering his current record.

I find it worrying that he is expected to have surgery after the Australia tour. Surely there is a significant chance he will break down before then.
His workload will have to managed well. Should ideally play only two out of the 3 tests vs WI (as all three tests are back to back). Play him in the 1st and 3rd test so that he gets enough rest before the 3rd test. Then gets about a month for working on his body and bowling before the tests in Australia start on 26th Dec. Could play a first class match in India before the team leaves for Aus. Remains to be seen how the team management manages the workloads now given the injury problems on the last tour.

Ishant bowled fantastically in IPL, HE HAS A MATURE HEAD OVER HIS SHOULDERS, with him and Zaheer and a stronger support cast, we can be formidable bowling attack anywhere.
