saneindian Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 The next round of Ranji matches are from Nov 17-20 and the 3rd test starts from Nov 22. If Varun and Rahul are not going to be picked in the final 11 for the 3rd test, they should be released to play the Ranji matches. There's no point seeing two youngsters warming the benches for a month when you have the domestic season on, especially with these two who have not played much first class cricket. In fact even Kohli and Rahan should be asked to play for their Ranji sides.
nsareen Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 thats called dreaming... there are logistical problems doing that, if something happens to he them there is no backup....
vamos_rafa Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 If you send everyone, then who would be the substitute or the 12th man? and pani leke kya Duncan Fletcher aayega?
asterix Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 If you send everyone' date=' then who would be the substitute or the 12th man? and pani leke kya Duncan Fletcher aayega?[/quote'] :hysterical:
ganeshran Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 They are not simply warming the bench, time spent with senior players is very important for their development. Plus they have access to the best resources at this level. Once the tour is over they can go back to playing in FC.
saneindian Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 thats called dreaming... there are logistical problems doing that' date=' if something happens to he them there is no backup....[/quote'] The next test match is in Mumbai. Mumbai play Karnataka in Mumbai starting tomorrow. Jharkhand will play Maharashtra at Nasik, which is 30 minutes by flight from Mumbai, 2 and a half hours drive by road. Punjab play Saurashtra at Rajkot, 1 hours flight to Mumbai. Delhi play TN at Delhi, 2 hour flight to Mumbai. Assuming something goes wrong with Aaron, they always have the option of asking Mithun and Iqbal Abdullah to stay back at Mumbai as a cover. Just needs a bit of planning. Happens in every cricket nation.
Sachinism Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Be happy they at least sent one player (Rahane) to go play Ranji in the meantime
saneindian Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Be happy they at least sent one player (Rahane) to go play Ranji in the meantime Yeah, makes sense. The Ranji match is in Mumbai, why deprive the youngster of playing a first class match. Hope better sense prevails and others get released as well.
daryl1985 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 If we win this match i would like to see Ishant rested and Aaron play. They should release Rahul Sharma.
Sooda Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 ^ Think there should be some more changes if we do win. Can the squad be revised again? If so it will be a good oppo to try out a few younger players Sehwag, Mukund, Rahane, Tendulkar, Laxman, Kohli, Saha, RPS, Varun, Ashwin, Rahul S
MCcricket Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 If Dhoni doesn't intend to play those 2 guys at all then that is not a bad idea, but if he has plans for them then it is justified, anyways being with the squad, interactiing with Fletcher, Simmons can only help their cause also the coach will be in a better position to know what these players can add to the team and their talent.I would love to see Aaron , Rahul in Mumbai, which has a bit more juice also we can play them in ODI'S I don't see him geting a chance in this test series, but he has potential.

maniac Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 If we win this match i would like to see Ishant rested and Aaron play. They should release Rahul Sharma. Also it is time to give Dhoni a rest....May just be a good time to test our 2nd keeper for Aussie tour
