Pwnting's last 51 Tests this is absolutely shocking. Just 6 centuries and around 3400 runs @ 38 in 51 Tests - even New Zealand or WI would have dropped a batsman in this form.

and people compare him to tendulkar :cantstop: thats the thing abt tendulkar he hasnt just been consistent he has been super consistent over soo many years! ponting after he slumped is no way near his best and when people say tendulkar scores only on flat tracks see his record in Australia and never talk again :P

I think the people who used to compare him with Goddy have now realized that it is simply impossible for Pwnting to catch up and are therefore looking at some new players to compare with Goddy (Cook etc) :--D

kallis...i respect this guy..he is just like tendulkar and he is seriously ignored by english and aussie press has 40 hundreds in tests.. and is also a decent bowler! worst part he is ignored by english and aussie press

Kallis was a very slow player. He has always been part of a very strong team. This can be one reason why he is not rated very highly. He often struggled to get big scores.

thts wht i like abt him he improved.. he got double.. he also now scores quickly.. and not getting runs against some teams.. im not rating him higher than tendulkar.. im just saying he is ignored even though he is better than ponting.. even ponting struggled in sub continent ..

Well, that isn't so bad. Does highlight the awesome highs in between. But this stat is very telling, clearly through this decline he has not tried much to combat it. Not gonna happen at 37 years old.

As much as I hate Pwnter and his arrogance, he is one of the batting legends, its possible he'll find form and score a couple of centuries in the next tour.

Since when performing against England has become bench mark, England brightest period was 2005 and last two series other than that in last three decades of their existence they have done nothing note worthy nor they had any world class players.

i have never rated ponting, he was a good player in the australian line-up surrounded by excellent players(hayden, s. waugh, langer, warne, mcgrath, gilchrist) but he gorged himself on runs from 2003 to that 5-0 ashes win on 2007, a period defined by poor bowling stocks around the world and culminated with so many aussie greats retiring in 2007, since that 2007 period ponting has struggled to carry the burden of past expectations and "superstar" tag like Lara and Sanga had to do all their career and he has been brutally exposed first by steyn and morke over 6 test matches, then amir and asif in england and then the english bowlers in 2011. though i do think ponting is one of the greatest odi players.

While opener Phillip Hughes is almost certain to go and fellow youngster Usman Khawaja is under pressure, former captain and Fox Sports commentator Allan Border believes veterans Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey are also in the gun. Ponting's recent struggles - just one century in his past 20 Test matches - have been well-documented. But the form of Hussey is rapidly becoming as much of as concern as Ponting's lack of runs. Hussey has plenty of credit in the bank after a magnificent performance in Sri Lanka earlier this year, when he scored 463 runs at an average of 92.60 in three Tests. But in the four Tests and seven innings since then, Hussey has scored just 83 runs at an average of 11.85. Border expects one of the ageing duo will be out of the side for Australia's next Test, against India on Boxing Day. "I think one of the old boys will go," Border told Fox Sports show Inside Cricket. "I think Hussey or Ponting will go." While Hussey's dramatic dip in form has him under pressure, Ponting remains the player under the most scrutiny. Having gone almost two years without a Test hundred, there have been calls for Ponting to call time on his career and leave the game with the dignity one of the greats of the game deserves. But the longer he continues and the longer he fails with the bat, the more likely it is the selectors will have to make Ponting's decision for him. "I want Punter to get runs but when you see him getting out like this, it's just disappointing. I think we've got to say 'what are you going to do?'" Of most concern for Ponting is the nature of his dismissals, particularly his tendency to play across his front pad and be trapped LBW. Ponting has been dismissed leg before in five of his past seven innings. It has become such a problem for the former skipper that he decided not to wait for the umpire's decision when trapped in front in the first innings in Hobart. "The trouble for me is when Punter used to go out there, there was an air of invincibility about him," Fleming said. "That he was going to lead from the front and he was going to take down the attacks. When he goes out to bat now, there's an air of vulnerability about him and you're hoping he gets runs."
