i dont think they are deliberately trying to piss off indians. they want the place to have a specific atmosphere, and they feel indians and muslims would ruin it. that seems fair to me. no ulterior motive here, as far as i can tell. they want a nice party joint, and indians aren't the kind of people that like to party. besides, indian people claim to be very moral and never stop to mention how 'kaalchurred' ('culture') they are. i am sure they wouldnt want their 'sanskaar' being challenged in such places anyway, so there is no reason why they should be offended by this. its like a muslim getting offended by the idea of being turned away from a beer and sausage tasting. you can't eat or drink these things anywya because you think that doing so would send you to the depths of hell, so why do you care ??

^^ He is actually right on the money here. They are scared to death of people from conservative backgrounds checking in (they also banned Middle Eastern Nationals) and complain about the alcohol abuse (within the hotel premises, at least) and sex romps.

thats a shame. they should RE ENFORCE THE BAN immediately. we all know what these lame indians are gonna do if they are allowed into the hotel. they will check in, shake their heads in disgust at the sex romps and alcohol-fuelled orgies, then find the nearest computer wtih the internet and sit on it ALL DAY writing long arguments on websites like ICF about how tendulkar is better than imran farhat and how laxman is the greatest 2 and a half inings player and why hayden's innings of 375 is better than warne's victory at world series poker

The behaviour he is talking about is class/choice/social acceptance thing. A analyst on SKY while arguing the case of journalist against phone hacking scandal said on live tele, "if you dont want us to be reporting then stop paying a whoar to stick up dildo in ur ars-EEE" Now he wasnt a Indian, And he was not talking about Indian views

The hotel would would have lost a lot of money when they didn't allow Indians in. My guess is the hotel had trouble with them previously before deciding not to let any in. And yes, Manny is Indian.

Bunch of self-loathing Indians you guys are.

This is some specious reasoning. They don't have to tell us that we are moral or our sanskaars would be offended. If some Indians find the place repulsive, they simply won't go there. Why does the Hotel have to explicitly mention that "Indians not allowed". Instead of being borderline racist and retarded, what they can do is market their hotel in such a way that those who are really offended just don't go there. Or they can make all the guests sign a no objection clause at the time of checking in, saying that so and so also happen in the Hotel and I (the guest) has no problems with it. What would you say if an Indian MNC/ top Academic Institute/ scholarship program boldly printing on their prospectus that Americans needn't apply? And then justify that by saying that we all know that most of them are stupid and fat anyways, hence incapable of completing the course.

Some of the worst racial discrimination I have personally witnessed was done by Indians onto other Indians because they were of a different caste, darker skin color, from an offshot religious stream etc. Not going to support the guy inflicting the racism just because he is Indian.
I refuse to accept that anyone can be this dense. Even those who have stayed in Australia for a prolonged period of time. Please tell me that you are adding this non sequitur arguement to the discussion simply to divert away from the original topic. No one here is condoning the racism/ religious bigotry in India. However, you are citing that as an excuse/justification for racism by a Hotel in Malaysia? Are you for real? So, according to your 'logic' is it justified for Indians to beat up Australian tourists just coz some Australians beat up Indian students? PS: Your reply to Aaku was pretty classless and cheap. I've always seen her post in good humour and cheerfully, and you managed to get her pissed. Congrats. :two_thumbs_up:

Errr no. Two things: 1. It said Indian passport holders not allowed. Not, Indians not allowed. A lot of their staff are Indian, just not Indian passport holders. 2. The racism in India is irrelevant to what's happening in Malaysia. I am just saying some of the worst cases I saw of discrimination was in India, in rural India if you want to be really pedantic.

And how else is an Indian supposed to go to Malaysia? Without his/her passport?:P They are still discriminating against Indians from India. You think thats not a generalization?

Fair enough. Sorry if I sounded harsh and/or misunderstood. Coz I remember reading your comment that said " Malaysian Indians are racist towards Malays, and Indians towards other Indians and hence deserve this to know how it feels". Didn't you say that? If not, my apologies.

Sorry for not quoting, my mobile device does not allow me: 1. People from "conservative" backgrounds complained in the past about the alcohol (ab)use, dress code and general behavior of European travelers. For that reason, they said "Indian, Malaysian and Middle Eastern Passport Holders not allowed". So, if you were a Canadian national (Canadian Citizen/Passport Holder) of Indian origin say, they'd still let you in. I can totally understand why they'd do this. 2. It's also a tit for tat response btw. Some Malaysian Indian owned places in Malaysia don't "like" certain ethnicities staying so it probably has something to do with it. Like I said, the government stepped in and told both sides to calm down before this ended in physical violence.

But Sree buddy, this is how discrimination and stereo-typing starts. Are you claiming that out of say millions of Indian passport holders, not even one would like to enjoy this place? Is he not being discriminated against? How different is this from the stereo-type of all black people being stupid or not worth anything? Also I dont understand how holding a passport of a different country will automatically make someone not 'Indian-minded'. Some NRIs are more conservative than resident Indians

why do you care about how they market their hotel? its THEIR hotel, unki marzi, unke rules. you don't like it, kahin aur jaao. the only people that can enforce policy are the law makers, and u aren't one. they can make astute generalizations like the ones i have made in this thread. as long as what they are doing isn't illegal, its all good. if they won't go there anyway, then why should they be offended by it?? the no objection clause doesn't help them in anyway because they would still have to deal with the prospect of accepting indians. this is bad for business. i am sure the rates are fairly affordable, and indians, being suckers for cheap deals, would be drawn to the place in droves. that presents a problem for the management who would like to maintain a certain ambience that is difficult to achieve with the presence of indians/muslims, etc. you are looking at this issue from the wrong perspective. i admire the hotel for enforcing a policy and standing by it - its better than places that implicitly discriminate. re: the indian MNC/scholarship/ thing. no american woudl want to apply to an indian organization in t he first place so i can assure you that this won't be an issue. :desiman:

And in America it was bad for business to accept blacks. It was bad for business to accept Indians in British run isntutions and hotel in India. It was not illegal. Yet people fought against such discrimination and even gave their lives for it Again I like how you tar each Indian with the same brush. There can be only two reasons you are ok with people discriminating against an entire country whcih is also your country of origin I believe. You have a deep sense of inferiority regarding your identity and culture and feel that you are inferior. Or, you somehow consider yourself to be 'non-Indian', the dude liberated by the west so that the 'Indianess' is now out of you and you can safely look down on other Indians just because you own a different passport A country's soft-power is as or more important than its hard power. America grew many fold by getting people to accept its Coke and Mac culture. Even some obnoxious parts of its culture were peddled and people accepted. Heck, I cannot take discrimination against any country lying down let alone my own.
