Future of indian cricket after Tendulkar retires

You have a right to your opinion. But come on Yoda please don't turn this thread into a Sachin versus others thread. Everyone realizes it is a team game and that it takes more than one person to win a game.
Tell that to those who claim "He is cricket" and those who blindly shake their head at that. My point is that Indian cricket has been much more than just him. There was great great cricket by others when he played (examples cited) and there will be great cricket after him. In fact many of our greatest moments while he played weren't even because of him. Sure he is a great himself, but it is idiotic to claim nothing exists outside of him the way his fanatics would make others believe.

I agree its a team game - now you tell me if its a team game then why is it then whenever we lose a match where he has played well (Hyderabd 175 against Aus or Chennai 136 against Pak etc) the entire responsibility for losing that match lies with him and him alone even if he has scored a majority of the runs (as in case of Hyderabad 175) while others have not played well at all??

But for some people he is! Just like for some others Rahul = cricket. For many Bengalis, Dada = cricket. I dont think there is anything wrong with that

I don't think BB said that...that is your inference from his statement. He only said the first part. This is how misunderstandings start and the thread derails...we generalize the opinions of someone beyond scope when whatever one says is within a t,s,p,c
read my post after that:giggle:

Anyone who claims Sachin is cricket or place him above Indian team are ignorant.Just like some pathetic fans in the Mumbai crowd today who wanted India to follow on so that Sachin can bat again. Most Indian fans love Sachin because of cricket not the otherway round. If there was no Sachin we would have loved someone like Laxman or Dravid the same way.Similarly when Sachin retires we will find someone else to show the same stardom even if he isnt anywhere close to Sachin.

Yeah Dravid with his style of batting would have attracted millions of viewers to the game like Sachin did in the 90s , before which cricket was a poor mans sport .
