In fact they exacerbate the problem! Let's go with likes of Sandeep Sharma who has been impressive in the shorter formats at u-19 and domestic level. No point in sticking with tried and tested failures.

Sandeep Sharma is one bowler who impressed me - more than Aaron and more than Umesh - in the shorter format. He's always accurate, moves the ball around and batsmen have to take risks if they want to score against him. Just because he's not that quick doesn't mean he shouldn't be given a go. Bhuvi and Sandeep can make an ideal opening combo backed up by one of Ishant, Aaron or Umesh. But likes of Vinay Kumar and Dinda have no upside at all.

He has one of the highest economy rate in IPL and generally gets wkts when batsmen are trying to slog him out of the park. Figures of 2/45 in a T20 doesn't mean the bowler is a wkt taker. OTOH Sandeep Sharma genuinely troubled the batsmen, both at u-19 level and in the few games he got in IPL on flat wkts. He at least deserves a shot ahead of Vinay Kumar and Dinda.

It's no coincidence Pakis always have a decent bowling lineup, and it's coz they bring in their fast bowlers to intl cricket when they are young. Batsmen, on the other hand, have to learn the art of batting long periods and building an innings. I think 2-3 FC are still important to understand your game and learn to soak pressure etc.Pakis only brought Amir early recently,thats because he was complete package,fast,swinging the ball etc.Sandeep needs to get atleast 5k quicker to be effective at the intl level imo

I'm not defending VK and Dinda,they are utter crap but we need to go for older bowlers like Kaul,Awana etc.

The end result should be performance, i.e. taking wkts or scoring runs, not how the players do it. If Sandeep Sharma can get wkts at his current pace, why change it? Who knows we might break him altogether trying to add 5 kph to his speed. Vinay Kumar and Dinda will be 5-10 kph faster than him but I know whom I would pick in my team. This adding 5 kph speed is what scares me and I want him in the team ASAP, coz I fear some coach will get his hands on him and try to mould his action to make him quicker and Sharma might lose what works for him. If he can take wkts at 125-130 kph, I am fine with it.
