One Day Cricket Should Be Scrapped-Graeme Swann

England spinner Graeme Swann has told BBC Sport he would like to see one-day international cricket scrapped. "I think one-day cricket will have to give at some point, hopefully for everyone," he said. "I don't think that game should carry on for much longer. "For me it's not as enjoyable to play in. I think Test cricket and Twenty20 are the way forward for cricket." Swann, 32, said the recent postponement of the World Test Championship was "disturbing" and "short-sighted". A key member of England's side in all three formats of the game, Swann was top of the one-day bowling rankings as recently as October before slipping to third. "We do play too much cricket and if something had to give my choice would be 50-over cricket, or make it 40-over cricket or something," added Swann, who captained England in their last three Twenty20 internationals. I am not at all in favour of removing OD cricket. I love and I grow up watching it. One Day Cricket is still a big hit. There might be a lil bit of bad patch for one day cricket in some countries but it is still a big hit in India, England and South Africa. And if situation gets better in Pakistan, It will be much better for Cricket

ODI cricket generates more TV money than T20 and tests combined.So there is no way administrators will want to scrapping. Also just because England are rubbish in ODI doesnt mean we can scrap a format.What next ENgland cant play spin thus ban every spinner?

How is money related to the number of wickets he is getting ? As the article mentions Swann is also a TOP Bowler in ODI cricket . Are you saying since tests are not profitable , other teams are not interested in Test cricket and therefore England is successful ?

One day Cricket is an important and integral part of my life and many people's life. I withdrew the plan to go to america couple of years ago coz I felt I won't be able to watch cricket there. I love it so much. Swann might be pisssed off the fact that, now English players are looking forward to participate in next year's IPL but England will play some ODI matches at the same time

Everybody gets to speak in civilized societies. But not everybody gets to be heard. Swann gets to be heard because he is the best spinner in the world in Tests and in the top 3 in ODI's.

i am fine with the idea. england should scrap their ODI cricket. they arent good at it anyway. at least then they wont have to suffer the ignominy of being humiliated 5-0 and 6-1 by good teams time and again.
