Will India's Australia tour go the same way as the England one?

The lead-up to the Australian tour is looking eerily similar to the England tour earlier this year... 1. Zaheer under fitness cloud as usual 2. PK already injured and out of the tour so our team already weakened 3. Lot of speculation around SRT's 100th 100 4. Key players out of form or lack match practice - Sehwag & Gambhir specifically Am getting nervous as this is our best bet to beat Aus in Aus and if Zaheer is unfit we will be left with Ishant and two rookie fast bowlers :nervous: Hope our batting shows up on this tour at least

Wish I could be as optimistic as you. We managed to survive two Zak-less tours to Aus due but am not so confident this time round.

a lot of people expect india to lose the series, which is fair enuff since they played realy badly in england and thats still in the memory. you cant compare the two series tho. india are bound to take this test series a lot more serioulsy, whereas the england tour was almost like a vacation for the indian cricket team after south africa, the world cup and the IPL. nothing went right for india from the start, and all the injuries really killed any chance of building form. the bowling attack is far better, and the selectors are prepared for zaheer khan's absence. his place is only conditional on proven fitness, so he might not even make it unless he bowls 20 overs in the two ranji games coming up. if he plays, thats great, if not, then its no big deal. the batting is the big worry. no big runs in west indies, england and in this series vs the west indies. lots of collapses by the top order. the key difference is the opposition. england are miles better than australia and have a team of in-form players that have been doing well for a while now. they are strong in all departments. australia are rebuilding now, just like india, and have more vulnerability. their bowling attack sucks, and their batting is badly out of form. i think india are the better team and will play much better when the expectations are so low, no pressure. i back india to at least draw, if not win.

Not all. There were quite a few who were not carried away by the #1 tag. I expected us to lose the series badly but the poor performance of our bowlers was a big surprise. Did not expect to see one of the worst overseas bowling performances seen in 10-20 years in favorable conditions. It is hard to believe that Ishant Sharma has suddenly improved in 3-4 months We need spectacular performances from Umesh & Ashwin in their first overseas test series and the Ishant from 2008.

Nobody expected Zaheer to hobble off after 10 overs into the series, nobody expected Harby to play with injury and be totally ineffective, nobody expected BCCI to send a clearly unfit Sehwag to England, nobody expected half the team to be injured and nobody expected our batting to flop big time.

wasnt it all for good? that england tour if we would have performed normally there we wont have changed anything injured players would still be touring.. and no new young guys would ve been selected i can assure what happened in england was just things going wrong at every level there was almost panic at one stage but dhoni did well to keep team calm i dont expect so many players to get injured again and go there un prepared see now specalist test players would go there earlier and 2 warm up games this time yes we have 2 rookies but u gotta play them sooner or later and its not like they arent talanted.. playing ishant last time in australia to me was bigger gamble he was even more unexperinced than yadav of now lets hope batting clicks for one more time and rookies show the world what they are made of one thing going for them is they already toured austraia in emerging players tournament recently if zaheer is fit we win definately if he is not its a bit of gamble but australia still is a worse side

i dont see us losing its gut feeling i always felt w/o zaheer we will lose in england but not this time around i will comment after this odi series need to keep track of performance of new bowlers if htey are consistent good news for india if not we are too dependent on ishant then LOL

We couldn't beat WI 3-0 at home and you expect India to win 3-0 in Aus, where we have yet to even win our maiden series :facepalm: I would be thrilled even by a 1-0 or a 2-1 scoreline in India's favor.

I expect us to lose, but not get brutally thrashed like we did in England simply because the Aussies aren't as good as England.

You can't have so much bad luck stacked against you in two away series. So that should prevent another 4-0. How the series turns out to be is totally dependent on the batting unit. Will need scores of 375-400 regularly.

If India manage to draw the first test...then we could be looking at a 1-1 result. This would be a satisfactory result for India. Still keeping fingers crossed. No one in their worst nighmare would have imagined the Indian Test performance in England. I am still not convinced about Ishant. When he came back from England he made a statement that he needs foot surgery..now magically he is OK. Wonder if he is fully fit?
