Are too flat pitches good for Indian cricket?

With the advent of T20 you will see higher scores in odis just as the advent of odis increased the rate of scoring in Tests. As for Indian pitches being flat and harming the team, didn't we win the world cup just a few months back? Everyone plays on flat pitches. Do you think Pakis, Bangbros and Lankans don't play enough on flat pitches? It's just that Indian batting team is pretty good at the moment - probably best in the world with more than decent replacements. We are hammering WI without the likes of SRT, Yuvraj, Dhoni etc. in the team. With the likes of Rohit Sharma not automatic selection for the team, when he would walk in the team for just about any other intl team shows the strength of our batting.

This kind of cricket is boring. There is no need for bowlers on these Dead tracks. Just replace them with bowling machines. No wonder Sehwag averages 22 against Australia in ODI's but revels on these flat,dead tracks.

yeah but see thats my point. In non minnow matches Of all the games involving 400s India seems to be the home when 4 times sides in 3 matches. There is not the kind of runs scored anywhere. Now dont tell me that other sides like Aus and Sa who have scored 400 before are somehow not good enough? The fact is they dont play much on small ground with concrete tracks. Answer me this, why are the record been broken twice in the same state under the management of the same cricket association within the BCCI. Madhya Pradesh?

Well there are some statistical oddities which you will always come across. E.g., when Aus scored 435 against SA it was the first time 400 was scored in a odi. What were the odds of a team bettering that record in the very next innings? Get the point - it's sports and some records just happen. As for Aus and SA, they are pretty good teams but generally their bowling unit is the stronger unit. If you are looking at batting units alone, India is way ahead of Aus and SA. Compare the 3 batting lineups in odis and you will see it. India - Sehwag, SRT, Gambhir, Kohli, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Raina (with likes of Yusuf Pathan, Rohit Sharma, Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja on the fringes) Aus - Watson, Haddin, Ponting, Clarke, Hussey, Cameron White, Steven Smith (with David Hussey on the fringe) SA - Smith, Amla, Kallis, AB De Villiers, Duminy, Colin Ingram, Boucher I may have missed a couple of Aus or SA players but you can clearly see that on true pitches, which the odi pitches generally are, Indian batting unit is way more explosive than either SA or Aus teams. Its Aus and SA's superior bowling and fielding which gives them the edge, not their batting.

To be honest I didn't see anything special in Aaron either this odi series. His pace was in low 130s most of the time and his line and length not good enough. Umesh Yadav is the only decent fast bowling talent I have seen since Ishant burst on the scene.

actually he only played 2 matches and i think rkt posted cric info speeds of first match 29 out of 36 bows he bowled were over 140.. and he was hitting 145 easily next match was bad for him but still he was better than mithun he is raw.. thats why u want to play him so he can get better yadav was same against england did ya saw that series? he improved only now thats why i said potentially

One of his LBW shouts would have been upheld if we had DRS. The guy is extremely accurate with hardly a loose ball on offer. Great find for us as he will be an asset in odis and T20s. If managed properly he could be another Kumble.
